No excuses for not stopping for people but my Brother in law was a bus driver and he was threatened every day spat at,bricks thrown through the windscreen, sworn at etc no wonder they act like cnuts.

Wage sounds rather poor. You need a thick skin to stand that abuse but you're safe in your cab. Think of nurses and paramedics who face worse and are more vulnerable. Those are likely jobs people actually wanted to do and pay better so god knows how you'd end up as a bus driver. That said surely you just get the fcuk on with it so I can't justify them being cnuts but it's probably par for the course in that profession. In fact looking at 'pay and conditions' they should probably strike twice as much as other transport staff. I know of one who has come off on top of 2 incidents with passengers. One fight and one misbehaving youth smashing in to the upper deck windscreen after he intentionally slammed on the brakes. Still driving busses but again you could argue they put up with a lot of sh1t.

I really find it hard to imagine a worse job for me (that I could actually do).

The guy I knew, was Boring Bob the Bus Driver. Nice enough guy, but he could bore the paint of the walls. Everyone knew him as Boring Bob the Bus, and with hindsight that probably contributed somewhat to his eventual suicide I guess (though his brother also killed himself about three months before).
