Despite your potshots at UKIP, you must be gutted that you have lost this election.

Therefore, who do you blame?

You've come in your pants there tootsie, if the latest polls are anything to go by...

Final YouGov Nowcast: Con 276, Lab 276, Lib Dem 23, UKIP 1, SNP 51 [Link]

So you are saying that Labour are left wing?

Interesting.

If you weren't why did you choose now to say that the left had lost? Surely they lost during Blair era New Labour when they ceased being left and moved over to the Centre.

TUSC are the only real national Left Winger party and even they don't represent enough seats to be anything more than a fringe party.

Voting for fringe parties isn't about winning or losing, but by showing the Major two parties there is (or isn't) a strong enough voice for or against a policy.

As you say Ukip as a fringe party have been successful as the Tories and Labour have tightened their immigration policy. But likewise, any adoption of TUSC policy, and we aren't just talking about anti-austerity here, would represent a win for the left.

To answer your question (although I'm still not 100% on what you consider left, only what I do so that is were my answer comes from) - it's too early to credit any Left wing success. The eventual (right wing) government will in their early month evaluate the governments power and need to adapt to what ever the post election left wing position/strength is and they will act accordingly. Politics is heavily skewed to the right and this will always affect left wing "wins" and they will be less instant.

TUSC is in it's infancy and operating in right wing politics (see previous point). UKIP was founded in early 90's and it then took about 20 years to have it's first real breakthrough. TUSC 5 years ago.

You're confusing Voters, with Media. Austerity is a massive issue to the voters, it's just played down through the media and by the big two as they don't want to make it a focal point of the election because it doesn't suit either of them.

I find the very notion of left/right winning and losing as being a bit playground. They both require each other and we win or lose as a nation.

I have a question for you, did you consider the result of the last election a win for the left?

Interesting.

No, that the anti austerity, we hold the balance of power, SNP are in the driving seat.

Excuse me.

Do you think Labour are 'anti austerity'?

More to the point, why hasn't the 'anti austerity' got votes outside of Scotland?

Well Scotland have apparently been hit harder by austerity. It'll most likely follow the pattern that anti-austerity voting will increase the longer the Tory's remain in power and will trickle down from the Scotland through the North and the Midlands and then from the West.

It will also be represented more in local government at first as most people, even right wing, hold the opinion of don't spend money national, but I want it spent on me and my town.

Why is it when you discuss politics and peoples view's on it, most people, like on this thread - turn into complete and utter c***s?

Because this was started by a right winger having a pop at lefties which makes him a cnut.

In reality of course most people don't seem to vote based on their MP, but on their MP's party.

Most people?? I'd say more like 99.9% of voters go for the party rather than the person.

I'm lucky in my constituency that the party I vote for has a decent candidate whereas the opposition candidate is an idiot - but even if roles were reversed, my vote would still be based on the party.

That's the reality - if Kylie Minogue was the Labour candidate, even if she offered to let me smash her back doors in, she wouldn't get my vote

That is the definition of madness. Bonkers.

True.
The correct answer is, of course, I'd promise to vote for her, smash in those back doors, then vote for someone else

Respect, I'd be holding out for a threesome in the bi election.

I met Amber Rudd in Sainsbury's (Sedlescombe) a few months ago.
[Link]

She was promoting the Tories at the entrance/exit.
She saw me walking out with two bottles of port in my hands , and said "Respect, a bottle in each hand !"

From that moment, I was in love.

I would definitely smash her ballot box in, but I don't live in her constituency

Surely the time has come for Proportional Representation now?

It cant be right that a party can get 20% of the vote and have less than 100th of the MPs surely.

The main parties would never go for proportional representation, it just doesn't suit their purpose as too many smaller parties would get seats in parliament so they would feel that they would have to make too many compromises on their policies.

I blame Ukip. They promised up to 40 MPs and were expected to split the far right vote. However despite the Tory election campaign being pretty poor they look as if they will be lucky to get a handful of MPs, possibly only one.

Couldn't care less.

Both the major parties have adopted UKIP policies to get votes.

That is success.

Is the truth, whether you like it or not. Democracy at work.[/quote]

If you believe that we live in a democracy then you are sadly wrong.
The fact that you are allowed a vote means diddly. It was only ever intended to make us peasants feel we could make a change. We can't. Many examples show this whatever colour they promote.
Those above the political world, the REAL POWER, will continue to pull the strings whether you accept that fact or not.

Democracy my ar-e.
