I always hear about people buying Smart TV boxes that allow you to watch absolutely anything from movies to sport for free, including latest films etc.

I've had a google and found boxes like the Roku etc. but they all seem to have a few free things but lots of it subscription based.

Is there actually devices that allow you to watch anything you want at no extra cost or is it just an exaggeration?

I know how torrents etc work, but I've not seen anything that just is a plug and play TV set.

Any advice?

They're all on ebay and to a slightly lesser extent...amazon.

Just search 'android jailbroken media player' or something like that. Or what is seen to be the best one... jailbroken apple tv 2 - but this one is v expensive.

The main words you have to write in are

Jailbroken

Fully loaded

And is it a case of when you get one you just type in whatever you want to watch in a search bar and the film or event comes up?

Droidbox/Droidstick

Get one with Android 4.4.4 for speed and compatability and ideally everything already installed and you'll be able to get all sorts of films, TV and sports streams through the apps.

Although you can do everything purely through an app called Kodi (formerly XBMC), on your PC or phone it's easier to have a dedicated Android box which would then be permanently hooked up to your TV through add-ons running within it. This also functions really well as a media centre (which was its original purpose).

You can also get it functioning exactly like a set-top box for live TV within Kodi, without even installing any add-ons.

So basically get some sort of Andoid mini PC with Kodi (free to download anyway) but if you'd rather not set it all up yourself (I've spent quite a few hours tweaking mine and in hindsight time is money and I should've paid £100 rather than 40 and saved the fcuking about) look for Sportsdevil and Genesis installed (although also easy to obtain) and check it's set up for live TV. Then hook up an external hard drive to your router if you haven't already for you to get all your existing films and music off of through your new device and finally add all your own apps like Netflix and BT Sport if you have them because (and maybe I should have mentioned this earlier but these services you actually pay for are more reliable and better quality)

and this is your best resource for apps etc to add to it

simply look on youtube for "How To Install Kodi" to see how it all works though the boxes come with the system already installed
