Carlsberg would still be a rip off at 18p a pint

Carlsberg don't do good lagers, but if they did they'd probably still taste better out of the can than on draft.

Any establishment/business that bans pikeys, gypo's and socially undesirable people has my custom assured.

Except you'd be barred by default.

You can't even stand at the bar in my local spoons.

That's a rule at most of them, when they're busy of the evening, the ones in Reading are the same, apparently its to facilitate serving customers and avoiding agro from people knocking into one another.

In this one is because they had a bad report from a mystery shopper so the manager put a note up saying no standing between 12am and midnight. Its only busy in here on match days. Its dead the rest of the time.

Its not too bad in my other local. In here I only drink it because I'm tight with cash

Round our way most the young ladies have trouble standing up at any bar.

I dont stand at the bar however it didn't go down well with the people that did. Pubs only busy on match days now and the t*** of a manager puts the price of son drinks up plus food. Carlsberg is £1.80 normally but is £2.90 on match day.

The Albion was charging 4 quid a pint last time I was in there (also coinciding with the last time I ever will go there).

I think for a lot of pubs around Norwood Junction the only thing keeping them going is the football crowds.

That's why I like the telegraph in Thornton Heath, not too expensive plus they don't put the price up on match days.

Oddly the 'Monks Retreat' and 'Hope Tap' both have a 'match day' ban on football fans. Reading does have two very large Witherspoon's pubs on the same street - One conversely near the courts and the other near the DHSS.

The third is too far from the busses to the ground to care.

The 'Hope Tap' is the most ill-named pub in England, it should be called the 'Slashed wrist' or 'Benefit Recycling facility'

They aren't all bad. Its sister pub 'The Abandon All Hope (Ye Who Enter Here)' have beers that have a lovely olde worlde feel them.

Out of date.

Or rather travellers

[Link]

So the court obviously considers travellers to be a separate race. Strange as I thought they were English, Irish, Romanian etc

But it's now set a precedent

This judgment will shake to the core all those who engage in racist conduct towards Irish Travellers and Romani Gypsies

"Shops, restaurants, supermarkets, hotels, clubs and pubs will now realise that treating Gypsies and Travellers as second-class citizens is an affront to their dignity that is no longer tolerated.

"Discriminators will pay in damages, costs and loss of reputation."

They'll ban common sense next. I'll bet you caravan park owners will still discriminate against them.

Its an odd decision, given that a Landlord doesn't have to give a reason for refusal of admission, its granted as part of their license.

I thought that as well, a pub can ban anyone without giving a reason. Maybe they said "we don't let pikeys in here"

It's horrible, vile stuff. If I was offered a beer and that arrived, I'd apologise and say no thanks.
