I think you've got the basis of a claim there. Actual proof of injury (and serious injury) and clearly they hadn't bordered the area off sufficiently, definite negligence and accident (provided you can prove it). It was on the actual rugby pitch itself not on the sidelines. I have 50+ witnesses including paramedics and registered league officials. I see it as they had a duty of care to provide a safe playing surface and have failed especially given we pay a fee to play there.
Was your holiday not covered by travel insurance? You also saved a fortune by not going, that island seems to hoover the cash straight out your pockets upon landing.
