This is why I'd make a better god
, because my sacred word, is that nudity and naughtiness makes your god happy.

Kind of makes me think about how the catholic church managed to get outraged about gay marriage and not its own priests f**king children.

I'm just trying to imagine how things would be if Jamie were God. I think we would struggle to fully understand his 'sacred words', especially those appearing on various cakes. Mind you, I expect Palace would get the benefit of a few dubious refereeing decisions.

Edited by derben (11 Jun 2015 12.58pm)

Jamie as a god would start off ok, all sex and drugs and rock n roll. Then people would decide to write down an interpretation of what he meant and at this point it would become difficult.

Some people would take his views on rapists as a licence to make jokes about anything that can be made funny. However others would assume it was literal and want to make it compulsory to carry duct tape and disposable gloves with you at all times.

Am I the only one who does.

I'd be a much more active god, one of those gods you appease rather than want the attention of. This whole 'nice god who loves everyone' is clearly a failure, we need the old fashioned type.

I always think if your outraged by tits or cocks, then you've failed at life,

Whereas insulting the culture of other countries just so that you can brag about it on Facebook marks you out as a success at life I suppose

Any culture that regards tits, bums and willies as an offence worthy of imprisonment, isn't one worth regarding (I'd go as far as to say any culture that enforces moral guidance on personal behavior, that isn't directly damaging to other people, is flawed).

Mmmm....A little flippant perhaps...Often self indulgent 'personal behaviour' does actually damage other people in lots of ways.

Especially those who give a s***.

If it actually causes real damage, then presumably it could be pursued. But nations should really be pragmatic and practical, rather than hysterical and absurd. By all means, arrest them, drive them to the airport, put them on a plane and ban them from the country, but actually arresting them and prosecuting them is absurdly over the top.

Its like Ireland's abortion laws. Utterly absurd kertowing to the Catholic majority, irrespective of the needs of the population and individuals interests.

To be fair, in their minds the exposed flesh caused an earthquake. Which, on the damaging scale, is right up there.

Ah but if the person behind isn't wearing one they can kill the person in front of them!

Is that a moral law? Personally I don't think people should be fined for not wearing a seatbelt, the reality of having your head smashing through windshield as you exit on to the bonnet should be sufficient for people. Provide information, let evolution take care of the idiots.

Yes,whether or not we encourage people to decrease the risk of killing themselves can be a moral question. But I take your point on the differential between "encouragement" and "enforcement"

The way it should work, people should be encouraged to wear a seat belt. They shouldn't be punished for not wearing one, but then insurance companies should also balance payouts for damages based on whether they were (after all if you're not wearing a seat belt and go through the windscreen, even if you didn't cause the accident, your responsible for making that decision).

We don't stop people riding 'Organ Donation Delivery Systems' aka motorcycles.

And lets face it, there is always a shortage of organs and Road Traffic Accidents are great providers of organs for people. Its a win win win. People get their freedom, stupid people get to die and dying people get to live.

I would fine them and then fly them out.....In today's culture 'shame' for poor behaviour appears to be almost ridiculed so I would insist that any cultural insult should be repaid in reasonable currency....As this is the language the west understands.

This whole case seems to be the result of what you get when you put crass and possibly entitled westerners, who think they can treat everything like a 'product to be consumed', on a holiday in a land with a different cultural mindset.

Similarly, the reaction to this crass and immature behaviour is also a bit backward but silly ideas are allowed everywhere.....To me, they thinking a mountain could be insulted is no more silly than our various religions here thinking than there's an old man in the sky updating a virtual spreadsheet on the rights and wrongs of their moral behaviour.

Prison time is an over-reaction and will damage their tourist trade.....Fine the fools and fly them out.

But it is a statement backed by scientific research into the benefit of a safety belt in road traffic accidents. It doesn't exist solely as a moral law enforced on people without a reasonable basis - Plus it can be shown to be directly beneficial to almost everyone (except those waiting for organ transplants).
