Losing by 200 is bad. Losing by 300 is appalling. Losing by 400...? I can remember us being bowled out for 46 in Antigua when we needed 141 to win, about 20 years ago. But this was still the worst England performance in a Test match I can remember, considering the state of the pitch, what we needed to do, the side we were playing (good but not world-class) and the fact that we were at home. Just embarrassing. No fight, bottle, composure or technique.

Well that was f***ing dreadful. Forgetting how badly we lost, and how utterly dismal we were right across the board, 103 all out is an absolute disgrace. Edited by ChuFukka (19 Jul 2015 7.01pm)

No way somebody like Pietersen would have just rolled over and taken it like that, at least he has a bit of attitude. This game was reminiscent of a few years ago, when we got annihilated on Australian soil. Who was our highest scorer that series? KP. Edited by ChuFukka (19 Jul 2015 7.51pm)

I have to say, I have no idea what I would do for next time. It was beyond awful. . When 3 out of the top 4 are "Out of nick" there are real problems. But is there anyone the selectors can turn to who might do better ?

Jonny Bairstow is the form player on the county circuit so one alternative would be to drop Ballance and move Root up to three with Bairstow coming in lower down the order
