'The response that day was poor due to a staff training exercises'..

That translates in the real world to 'we were understaffed and the staff we did have on are inadequately trained as we cut corners in an attempt to save money'..

Very cynical of me!!

Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!!

As Portillo implied last night, it's time to tell the nimbys where to go, because they are holding back progress in this country.

I guess though that's wholly dependant on what's proposed to be going on in 'your back yard'....

No one wants anything built near their house. I don't you don't and that is normal but if the infastructure of the country is falling behind and disintergrating then something has to give. It is the price you pay for living in a modern progressive country. If you prefer stagnation then move to somewhere like Greece or Russia where they still live in the 1950's.

There you go...there is 'progress' and there is fracking the arse out of your back garden and poisoning the water table for a radius of 200 miles or running a train line through your ex-living room because it shaves 3 minutes of travel time for the one man and his dog who travels between Luton and Wolverhampton to sell paper clips once a year.

I would not describe fracking as progress.

He isn't, he's quite clearly stating the opposite.

I know exactly what he is saying and it didn't really need saying. That's what I'm saying.
