Irrespective of the blatant and cynical manoeuvring of the SNP (which it is), I'm firmly of the opinion that pursuing and setting 20-30 dogs onto one animal and actually deriving pleasure from it is the act of a gilt-edged, irredeemable, unremitting, fully paid-up c*nt.

And not by any stretch of the imagination could you call me left wing.

I agree with you Dermot and I'm to the right of Attila the Hun.

So is someone who puts his Jack Russell into a barn to bump off a few rats a 'fully paid up c*nt' as well?

Look at the highlighted section.

If the person put the dog into the barn to derive pleasure only......... then yes.

If doing it as an act of accepted pest control then no obviously.

Depends, does he have about 30 terriers, and invite a group of mates to dress up like a bunch of t***s to run around the barn blowing trumpets, trampling everything in the barn to waste, before finally catching a single rat.

Hunting is a 'questionable past time at best', but even most people who are into hunting regard Fox Hunting as deplorable, and pointless as a means of pest control.

I'd hang them all.

The unspeakable in pursuit of the uneatable. Good old Oscar.

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

Don't like Foxes. If you can make it a sport why not. Just street rats.

I think its something to do with the idea that taking pleasure in the suffering of another creature, even if you don't like it, is ethically and morally incredibly difficult to justify.

Plus their treatment of their own dogs is questionable on ethical grounds.

Not to mention how s**ty they get, huntsmen, when you hunt them in return.

Absolutely despicable practice. If people want to dress up and charge around the countryside on horseback then I have no problem with that at all, just the ripping apart of an animal at the end of it. To somehow claim it's "pest control" is absurd. Its about having a jolly day out.

Seeing as how there are many times more foxes in towns and cities than the countryside I guess the Tories would have no issue with 25 teenagers getting dressed up in hoodies, burberry and tracksuits, getting on their scooters and charging around South London with some pitbulls. Instead of sherry/champagne it could be White Lightning or Mad Dog 20/20. At the end they get to shred one poor fox. Meanwhile the other 4.99 million in the city are okay, until next Sunday...right?

As to the original point of the article, if the SNP want to vote on an issue that they are currently legally allowed to do so then fine. Clearly there are constitutional issues that need to be ironed out, but if you also don't think that this is exactly the response that the PM wanted in order to whip up an England-Scotland feud for narrow party interest then I think you might need a crash course in politics.

PS I like foxes a lot more than anyone who hunts them, I know which I'd rather have in my garden anyway.

I've got a bad feeling about this.....

In Omen 3:The Final Reckoning, Damien goes fox hunting. He then plots to assassinate scores of children in the hope of eliminating the second coming of Jesus Christ. You can't tell me that's coincidence.

Kids huh, if they're not being f**ked by priests, they're being murdered by the anti-Christ.

Have you given up on this being a debate on whether the SNP should have such a big influence over this? I guess you were worn down over these 5 pages of chat specifically about fox hunting!
