There's one thing more annoying than people on TV pronouncing it "Rowt". It's my girlfriend yelling "Route" back at the TV. I manage to keep it in my head, she doesn't need to say it out loud. You do the math.

People who 'math' and not 'maths'.

The hard ch sound comes from Greek. Chemist, chronograph are both Greek derivations.

So did we have Wayne Routledge (English) or Wayne Routledge (American)?

Confusing.

Living down here does have some advantages. At least you can see them cry.

My step-daughter insists on calling lifts elevators. Thankfully she's got enough sense to call chips chips unlike most of her contempories.
My partner uses "Can I get ..." at least ten times a day - to me, let alone in shops. She's Glaswegian and it's almost universal up there.

If she's Scottish the "Can I get" ten times a day is probably in reference to chips as well.

And when did the word "regular" replace normal or medium?

F**king good point. In coffee shops I ALWAYS make a point of referring to sizes that aren't on their menu. I think Costa or Starbucks have "Tall" and "Grande" so I always ask for "Medium" or "Regular" just to be annoying. Krispy Kreme only do "Small" and "Regular". I would ask for "Large" but I know I'll get more coffee than I really want.

Tell us about your girlfriend.

And then perhaps provide some photographs, preferably beaver shots.

I thank you.

The BBS and Ian J are so right about us.

I often thank the Lord that we have Ian J's moral compass to guide us and keep us from straying to the dark side.

I'm glad that my ministrations are appreciated
