"Enrichment" triples this year. Just as well we have plenty of jobs and abundant cheap housing, particularly here in the capital, where they will be looking to bunk up with their mates.

[Link]

Please note these are just National Insurance number registrations. The true number of enrichers will be much higher, and of course doesn't include those looking to urgently perform work in the UK without the requisite paperwork.

Please also note this says nothing about net migration. According to this table:

[Link]

The immigration from the EU (over which we have no control) was 268,000. I leave you to take your own conclusions here. A look at the "Eastern Bloc" very much confirms that Farage was (again) correct in spite of his being mocked.

I expect "Legaleagle" to thoroughly and robustly (via extensive virtue signalling) dispute these figures as biased tosh as they come from the wrong type of newpaper / website, despite them being sourced from the govt.

I often wonder what the pro immigration crowd would say if you removed the alleged financial benefit element from the scenario and just focused on migrant numbers.

At what point would they say that we had taken in enough ?
I also wonder if they would feel that it is our duty to take any refugees from any country regardless of the cost to our own society.

As I see it, they have a head in the sand attitude to all of this. Often in life, what seems fair and what is reasonable are two different things. It seems moral to allow refugees to Britain and also economic migrants to a lesser extent perhaps, but any reasonable person must see that uncontrolled numbers entering Britain will create a major problem in the future. With global population increasing, there will be an almost infinite stream of people migrating to Europe. This has to be controlled and soon. Anyone who doubts that is insane. The plight of people escaping war torn regions is distressing but we must have our rational heads on here. Asia and Africa's population will swell rapidly in the coming years. Are we to allow their overcrowding problems to become ours ? Shall we be happy when we have a lack of water, food and shelter because the population has reached mammoth levels ?
As with most things, the liberal left don't think ahead. They are too wrapped up in some moralistic, ideological fantasy.

I just wonder how they would feel about it if they themselves or a member of their family need an important operation and they are facing a long wait as there is a Syrian, Afghan, Romanian, Pole, Bulgarian and Somalian who have all just come to this country, contributed nothing and yet are ahead of them on the waiting list!

I wonder how people would feel if their operation was cancelled because of NHS staff shortages due to foreigners not being allowed to come over and work for the NHS.

I think the idea that its a pro / anti argument is absurd in the extreme. Being anti-immigration would be a stupid as being for unregulated immigration; you cannot prevent immigration without causing monumental problems and curtailing the rights of citizens rights.

The thing that needs to end is the idea of unlimited EU working migration, it always needed to be regulated for the interest of society, rather than corporate profit.

I don't think it matters what you feel, its a waiting list, presumably they are organised based on priority and necessity of the operation to the individual. Turning that into a nationalist agenda undermines the Hippocratic oath on which Doctors operate. The idea that some lives are more important because of geography. Should I get an operation ahead of you, because I pay more tax revenue than you, or should someone get priority because the were in the armed forces or civil service, over someone in private enterprise?

I just meant I wondered if their view would change. Especially if very painful or life saving. I wonder if they may be a bit less understanding of migrants and immigrants then.

I was only throwing the question out there especially as more and more people are showing concerns based on waiting lists at doctors, troubles of trying to get their children into schools based on increasing numbers in their local population.

I'd blame it more on lack of investment in infrastructure and cuts.

It also doesn't help that 5 to 10% of some health authorities budgets are spent on paying back pfi 'debts'. Well done for that one Labour.

As long as groups like the CBI and IOD keep lobbying for more immigration, don't expect anything to change.

This is all about driving a race to the bottom on pay and conditions (perhaps with the added bonus of increasing the market for wealthy buy-to-letters).

I'm reminded of the joke about the 20 cookies on the table, where a wealthy businessman, a "white van man" and an immigrant are sat. The businessman shovels 19 cookies down his neck whilst warning the white van man that the immigrant will steal the last cookie.

What I find laughable is we have the left on the one hand telling us the NHS is on its knees, Schools are failing, prisons are full, a massive lack of housing, and yet .....

And yet on the other hand they want more people to come in to the country to add to what is already (according to them) a failing system.

And the whole "its the governments fault for not investing " is a mute point, the situation is what it is. Arguing over how we got to this situation is as effective as a one legged man in an arse kicking competition.

But wanting to add to it is positively mental.

Don't forget that every family that arrives contains a teacher, a medical worker, a carer and they all pay tax even before they've got jobs. And the kids got straight As when they were 6, before they arrived and are only going to school due to the oppresive British rules on attending school.

Oh I forgot the builder in the family that builds them their own house before they arrive too.

Optimistic as ever
