This would maybe for the first time in a few seasons put real pressure on Ward, as well as providing LB cover. Who knows whether there is any substance in this one, but I think it would be a great signing. No idea how much Santon would cost

The continual strengthening of our team is going to cause pandemonium on HOL. A huge number of people can't deal with the reality that Gayle isn't good enough, even though that is blatantly obvious. God help us when Pards starts to look at upgrading positions like right back. Some posters are going to go into meltdown. Anyway this would be a good move.

Sydenham by birth. Selhurst by the Grace of God.

Sounds like the player has strugged for form and fitness last couple of seasons, but he's still only 24, and a full Italy international. Bit of a gamble, but Pardew must reckon his chances of getting him to play well again. A fit Santon would definitely offer Ward stiff competition

infact I'd add to that, that pardew will possibly see him as a left sided midfielder if anything...after seeing that video.

Yes, seems to be playing as LB in that clip, but used his right foot quite a lot too. Looks a really good ball playing defensive player. The italian press are trailing the same rumour

This piece identifies him as an LB, whereas we really need RB cover, competition

He is a right back who was converted to a left back as he is comfortable with both feet. Similar to Azpilicueta at Chelsea. But he is naturally right-footed and is a right back by trade.

We have right back cover in Jack Hunt but despite Pardew announcing on his arrival that everyone had a clean slate it seems that it didn't apply to Hunt as despite excellent reviews from the clubs that he has been loaned out to he didn't even get a pre season chance to show Pardew what he could do

Some supporters really can't deal with players they like being replaced. If we really aspire to be a top 8 side we better get use to the loss of favourites.

Don't know much about this guy so I have no idea if he's better than Ward but as he is an international he must be half decent.

The ups and downs of Palace have left me older than my years

if pardew think Santon is a better choice got to go with it ,Santon is a good player you don't play for Italy if you are a defender and useless, The are going to be plenty more changes hopefully not too many in one period but if we want to get a better team and try to finally win a cup or finish 6 -8 place this is what's going to happen
