We have right back cover in Jack Hunt but despite Pardew announcing on his arrival that everyone had a clean slate it seems that it didn't apply to Hunt as despite excellent reviews from the clubs that he has been loaned out to he didn't even get a pre season chance to show Pardew what he could do I sort of agree. Every review I've read of Hunt has been positive and I was really hoping we'd finally get to see what he could do but you have to think that for whatever reason, we do not think he is a Premier League player. Like Gayle, if Pulis, Colin and Pards have all seen fit not to use him at all then the writing is probably, for better or for worse, on the wall.

The transfer expert on Talksport Warren Horton just said he thinks David Santon will be joining us.

Pards does (and I trust his judgment). b). You don't play for Inter and Italy if you don't know how to defend, and c). Right Back is a position where we need depth at a minimum, if not outright improvement. I also imagine Santon will be better schooled than Ward in the way Pards wants to play. Very exciting if true.

inter won't have just anybody play for them so he must be top draw. he is also a dead ball specialist.

Pardew knows what this lad is all about, they get on well, and ive heard that he's a hard worker. Would be a good signing at the right price!

The continual strengthening of our team is going to cause pandemonium on HOL. A huge number of people can't deal with the reality that Gayle isn't good enough, even though that is blatantly obvious. God help us when Pards starts to look at upgrading positions like right back. Some posters are going to go into meltdown. Anyway this would be a good move. Davide Santon is a definite upgrade on any of the FB's we have at the club, and one for the future as he's not 25 until next January.

Looks blinking good from watching clips,wondering if we are still looking at Grant Hanley who I would love to get,or has pardew twisted Parrish arm on just Santon and then he will be satisfied with his squad ?

This article refers to It being a good move if it comes off, but to Santon building a mixed reputation at Newcaste? Anyone knows what that's about?

Something doesn't ring quite true here... If he's f and f a RB as claimed, then how come he's played LW with no mention of having played RW??! The whole thing is shrouded in mystery. All we can say with any certainty is that no-one knows if he is a LB, RB or both. (Or neither?) Surely therefore the only sensible solution is to buy him, play him as Player Without Portfolio, and then simply substitute whichever player he happens to double-up with. For Jack Cork.
