One of the most overrated films(at the time) - zidane about the footballer. Something like 50 cameras around the pitch focused on his moves during the match. According to the reviews it was meant to be one of the greatest films of all time. I couldn't get through 20 minutes of it.
Any other movies that are so painfully awful that you had to stop watching before it finished?

Man is the most insane species. He worships an invisible God and destroys a visible Nature. Unaware that this Nature he’s destroying is this God he’s worshipping.

Hubert Reeves

The makers of that Zidane film have got a lot to answer for. Similar wastes of my life have included What Dreams May Come, 2001: A Space Odyssey and The Tree of Life, none of which will ever taint my evening again.

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold...

King Kong was awful! I looked at my watch, noticed that two hours had passed and then realised that they still had to catch the ape, get him to NY and let him climb up the Empire State Building. I gave up and went home.

Cynic or realist? It's a fine line!

Solaris - well I did watch it to the end but only because I kept expecting something to happen.

On the box - Bad Neighbours.

I got bored too. Sort of film regularly described as "groundbreaking" and "a journey". It may well have been and in hindsight is no doubt highly significant in the history of film. Nevertheless unless you're watching it for academic reasons related to study not entertainment then there's no point.

I ain't got nuthin' funny to say. Sorry.

Those of us old enough to see it when it first came out watched it stoned which probably enhanced it - same with Apocalypse Now.
