In no way would I describe myself as a Royalist, but, I have to say she has done a remarkable job - and a job that she had no choice in taking on.

She has always conducted herself with a quiet dignity, shown no apparent favouritism to any political party, avoided any temptations to speak out on issues and therefore alienate herself among sections of society, and has , during her reign, tirelessly travelled this country and the rest of the world as our had of state.

Also, she has almost single handedly prevented the monarchy from self-destructing thanks to the shenanigans of certain of its members.

So, whatever you may think of the monarchy as an institution, within its own points of reference and requirements of the occupant of the throne, I think she has been exceptional.

Personally, i feel that is because they are largely exempt from media scrutiny.

The rags in this country seemingly have no issue planting submersible camera's in Kerry Katona's toilet, but the minute a picture of Kate's tit's surface, there's a media blackout.

They enjoy a hell of a lot more privacy then some with their social status normally would, and should. In fact, the level of bias in the media is borderline criminal. The birth of Prince George for example, we were treated to centre fold spreads explaining the important role of Kate's endless amounts of aid's, funded by the taxpayer, who were deemed so important to helping her get through the birth of her child for no other apparent reason other then she said so. And this was being celebrated.

Compare that with the outrage of an MP buying a plant pot on expenses and you get the point.

We pay a lot of money for these b******s, i demand an album of sphincter shots!

Brand Finance’s research estimates the Royal family brings a net benefit to the economy of £26 billion. Which, if true, is a pretty good return for our money.

Well done Queeny, but I wonder whether she's scored as many times as Wayne Rooney.

In two years she will be as old as Wayne's favourite conquest. Time for another speech and maybe a public get together of two of Britain's finest in celebration, perhaps?

The 'Royalty' Brand may be worth up to 26bn, it doesn't bring in 26bn. For example this valuation includes the fact that if Kate Middleton wears a dress, its probability of sales increases by 47.5% in China, due to association.

They also reckon that Royalty has a influential factor on a UK firms position in the global market.

They probably bring in more than they cost, which in a capitalist economy is reasonable justification for keeping them. But they're also cresting the 'Kate Effect' and 'Diana Nostalgia' apparently (sounds like psuedowaffle bollocks to me).

She'd probably be more interesting in the England line up than half the plodders and cloggers.

Isn't it true that Queen Elizabeth is a illegitimate monarch? I'm sure it started with King Richard the 4th in the 1800s being a love child and every king and Queen since we're not legitimate including Queen Victoria. There's a documentary somewhere saying that this bloke who lives in Australia should be the current King.
