Queen are one of the best rock bands ever to come out of the UK. Their like will not come again. P.S. There is a great Queen bootleg from their earlier days, sometimes known as "Sheetkeekers," that every Queen fan should hear. Unless you're a fan you'll laugh it off, but I think Muse are the closest we'll get. Do a lot of "three-part" (f*** knows what the technical term is) songs like Bohemien Rhapsody (see Knights of Cydonia), an extremely wide range of songs like Queen with some heavy rock and other melodic, classicly inspired tunes. Never liked Queen myself far too pompous for their own good. All too over blown over camp posturing for my liking. But I see why folks liked them and to be fair they blew away the audience and resurrected their career at Live Aid. I still remember though Hugh angry debates with mates who could not accept that Freddie might just be a gay man (as the rock brigade at the time were not the most enlightened bunch,) apparently he was just a 'showman,'

Went to see 'Queen' - with my daughter a big fan - at theO2 back in February. Great show but I do feel they are - as someone mentioned earlier in thread - like a tribute band now. No new material - just the same old stuff - even if much of it is very good. Lambert was OK - had the showmanship and voice not bad. Just wonder why they (May & Taylor) carry on. John Deacon retired in 1998 and is reported to be worth £48m today so they must both be 'comfortably' off! Edited by rob1969 (27 Sep 2015 9.47pm)

When a band loses its frontman it's bound to seem like a tribute act. That said Genesis changed its frontman from Peter Gabriel to Phil Collins but it was early days. Lambert is good enough but there's no-one they can replace him with, so any new material I wouldn't really see as 'Queen'.
