Double standards

Nobody said unions are perfect. However that's a different discussion which sidesteps the main thrust of the thread.

There is no reason why Union ballots can't be done online; I complete the electoral register for my gaff online, so it's not like the technology doesn't work. It would still be overseen by the independent electoral commission.
The fact that the Tory party want to increase the turnout for strike ballots but insist on having to use, the quite frankly, outmoded snail mail.

Allow electronic voting and I'm sure the unions will kick up less fuss about turnout requirements.

Electronic voting would be more susceptible to fraud in my opinion nick.

The snail mail is easily cheatable too - isn't there a constituency in London somewhere that had thousands of postal votes for an Asian candidate that won and an audit afterwards found these "voters" to be non existant?
