I think probably what the 'lefties' don't like is the whipping up of hatred/dislike of Islam by the angles these kind of stories take.I don't think many would actually be surprised that this kind of thing happens. The far left (Marxists) don't believe in religions, seeing them as a way to control the poor. And this seems very much a case of the poor turning on the poor due to how religion has controlled their thoughts, and ultimately their actions. Red and Blue Army!

However, they are not the only religion among whose number that attitude prevails.

This is why many reject religion, sectarianism and everything related.

One of my biggest problems with multicultural migration is that the various groups bring their irrational religious squabbles with them.
