Re:Victorian times and Christian extremism. It did happen.

I remember an episode of 'Little House on the Prairie' when most of the locals rejected a family for not being godly even though they were perfectly nice and were continually ostracised until Charles and his halo stepped in to show the townspeople the error of their intolerant ways.

You really have become a broken record. Yawn.

Actually....thinking about it, it was The Waltons.

Firstly, it f**king unacceptable, for anyone to be driven out of their homes by the hatred of a community for reasons of personal choice. This is the kind of thing that all society has to stand up to; persecution of individual choice.

Secondly, another classic example of how the police will continually fail the British public if they are given half the chance to do f**k all. You'll always have c**ts in society, and the whole point of a police force must be to protect everyone in society, not just who they decide they want to protect each week.

The same applies to the local council and services, who have in recent years become an ineffective joke, like the police, playing the race card time and again rather than actually doing the job they are paid to do.

Of course the whole 'its the Muslims' mentality, in which a whole demographic gets blamed, is also the same kind of mentality that leads to people being persecuted by arseholes in society.

I missed this first time through the thread.

Personally, I don't think you meant to be racist against Asians. Did you?

I meant what I said Peffers.... if you interpret it as racist then there is little I can do.

I like the response from redblueyellow :-

I'm a tolerant sort of bloke, I still think there's a way to make multi-culturalism work in Britain.
Yet this story (and a shed load of others) about Muslim 'behaviour' really illustrate that there's no answer to stupidity when it's sanctioned by a religion.
What really fcuks me off is that they refer back to 'The time of ignorance' (meaning before The Prophet) and then use that as a cover for the most stupid and destructive actions.
Also, strictly speaking the Christian and Jewish faiths are protected under Islam as all are considered to acknowledge the same 'One God'.
Ignorance, hypocrisy, misogyny, intolerance and violence are becoming bywords for Islam and it's not all being done by antagonistic commentators but by the Muslims themselves.
If I'm reaching the end of my tether with these idiots, I can well understand the reactions of those with more Anglo-centric or anti-religious sensibilities.
Obviously not all Muslims are like that but it seems that the idiots are going to spoil it for everyone by finding justification for the unjustifiable in the Koran.
For now, I'll continue to trust the Muslims I know as friends and colleagues but beyond that......no, not any more.

That pretty much sums up my feelings about Islam too.

DNA is about race and ethnicity, yet your excuse is about religion. You seem to want conflate the two, I don't trust people like that it smacks of 1940s.

Not really its not. Firstly modern population genetics dismissed the idea of race as having any valid scientific basis or value, and ethnicity is generated through social discourse.

Genes are important to DNA and development, not race. There is too much consistency across 'racial groups' and too my diversity within them for race to be anything more than an observer bias.

Thank you Jamie.......

I would also point out that I said it as a bit of a p1sstake, never thinking anyone would forensically break the statement down to ascertain it's true meaning or DNA, which is ironic!

Lefties won't believe this story Matt.... it's from the Daily Mail.

Strange though that they believed the story about Cameron and the pig.... which was also a Daily Mail story?

Double standards nick?

It's a shame. Goes to show how f***ed up religion can be.

Muslims AGAIN..........Why do they cause so much trouble in the world?

It's in their DNA.

When we ran India, the Muslim servants were the most troublesome.... the Hindus and Sikhs were pussy cats in comparison.

What other religion has a holy book encouraging it's followers to kill "non believers" ?

Doesn't the old testament have something about that. Something as well about smiting your son if he offends you and so on.

Pretty sure you can find justification for killing people in all three of the key Abrahamic texts.

The Bible has the catch all "Thou Shalt Not Kill" though.

I fell foul of the "Thou Shalt Not Covet Thy Neighbour's Ass"... when I lived in Keynsham I gave her ass a right pounding!

Actually the original Hebrew is generally considered to mean 'Thou shalt not murder'. This gives you lots of wriggle room.

Doesn't the old testament become null and void to a degree with the coming of Christ and the new covenant of the New Testament though? I'm no theologist, but I though that was the deal - certainly the old is far more hell-fire and brimstone, whereas the new is more peace, love, and understanding.

Oddly there seem to be 15 commandments that make up the ten commandments. A lot of emphasis is placed on coveting.

Arguably they're not really all that relevant either, as by Leviticus all manner of new important nutnar rules and bylaws have taken over.

Depends who you ask. I think that there is a reason why the old testament was kept, and that's because you could selectively justify all manner of evil and very unchristian s**t, that clearly Jesus would have not been down with.

Peace love and understanding aren't a means for control and profit, but fear, hate and cruelty definitely are.

So the Bible is rather like good cop bad cop.

I hadn't thought of it like that before.

"When we ran India"

Ah yes, when Christian extremists invaded an independent country and killed hundreds of thousands if not millions of people for no other reason than enriching themselves and the East India Company

Still at least we are not muslim

Exactly.... and India ran a little bit better than it does today.

Explain how India ran a little better then compared to now?

You're getting all needy again (like the last time you butted in on my discussions with someone else) and I tried to debate with you when you changed "partly to blame" to guilty.

I was discussing the matter with Pefwin - so butt out.

I'm not interested in your views.

If you wanted to discuss the matter with Pufwins you would be better advised replying to his comment not mine. Happy to leave you to your white-supremacist selves.

Pufwins - yeah your grown up and deserve respect.
