Falling unemployment is measured by comparing the numbers of people CLAIMING UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFITS against previous figures. It does not derive from the number of people who found work, although they obviously make up a percentage of that figure.

Iknow of more people who have been excluded from benefits in the past year than have got jobs.

From my friends/acquaintances the figures are:

Got a Job - 2 (and 1 only a 3month contract)
Excluded from benefits - 5, possibly 6 as one was fighting it.
