this reminds me, I need to get the chimney cleaned. Also the shop near me delivers stuff all hours to the old people who can't walk too far. I was doing some gardening the other week when an old dear went past but very slowly and she said she felt dizzy but would be ok after smoking a few fags. She was trying to make her way to the shop to buy a pack. I offered to get them for her as it would have taken ages for her to walk there. Fitter Fans Group 2. No. 17

this reminds me, I need to get the chimney cleaned.

Also the shop near me delivers stuff all hours to the old people who can't walk too far.

I was doing some gardening the other week when an old dear went past but very slowly and she said she felt dizzy but would be ok after smoking a few fags. She was trying to make her way to the shop to buy a pack. I offered to get them for her as it would have taken ages for her to walk there.

New milky was Eastern euro t***. put note through my door ' you pay or no milk' I put note back in bottle with cash 'no milk' now buy milk from wherever. enough hassle in life without milky playing debt collector. still gives me the skunk eye some mornings. Kids,tired of being bothered by your pesky parents? Then leave home, get a job & pay your own bills, while you still know everything.

And then there was the man from Charringtons who used to deliver coke (not the Colombian marching powder type) for the boiler (not the female type) too. And the Idris "lemonade lorry"........ cherryade, cola, cream-soda.... luvverly. And the rag-n-bone man used to come round with his horse and cart - ringing his bell shouting "ragggy booooone". Those were the days! That all brings back memories of a happy childhood. Remember helping out the milkie on our way to school and on Saturdays (never got paid tho,never even thought about it) but he used to give out those small bottles of orange squash,was the highlight of our week...Blimey how life has changed.

My old next door neighbor was a gas central heating engineer and would pop around to my place to see that everything was working properly only to be told ion no uncertain terms to use the gas fire in my lounge as I could end up with carbon monoxide poisoning being the heavy drinker that I was back in the day I heeded his advice. Anyway he removed the fire and I decided to open up the old fireplace because it still had the original works behind It. I called in a Chimney sweep and he charged me about 200 quid for about 30 minutes work !! 'You'll need to have this done every 3/4 months he said' I only used it on Xmas Eve & New years eve and never called him back again. Pro USA & Israel

Yep the old chimney cleaners, there still around and cost a fortune. My old next door neighbor was a gas central heating engineer and would pop around to my place to see that everything was working properly only to be told ion no uncertain terms to use the gas fire in my lounge as I could end up with carbon monoxide poisoning being the heavy drinker that I was back in the day I heeded his advice. There used to be lots of doorstep callers including the milkman, coalman and dustman who would come up your back passage to collect your bin!!!! However, as a kid my favourite caller had to be the baker. He'd drop off the regular bread order and fetch a big basket to the front door. There would be a cover on top and when pulled back would reveal a variety of cakes. Always difficult to choose one but he'd never rush you into a decision. Wednesdays and Saturdays were traditionally cake days in our house. Denial is not just a river in Egypt!

However, as a kid my favourite caller had to be the baker. He'd drop off the regular bread order and fetch a big basket to the front door.
