He's going to raise tax for the super-rich and very well off, close corporate and personal tax avoidance loopholes, add a tariff for second home owners and resist punishing the working poor, elderly, sick and middle-income'd.

He is that nice.

oh, and introduce rent controls and regulate to stop dodgy banking practices.

The guy's brilliant.

Tackling excessive BTL purchases by putting a 3% premium on BTL and second property stamp duty.

Lefties rejoice.

Me on the other hand, I put down a deposit on a new build BTL last week (that I'd saved for 2 years for) and it won't be ready for another year. This has cost me almost 8 grand. Voting Labour next time. WAGU 4 Jez.

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Good to see no changes to tax credits- the Lords did well!
My biggest bugbear thus far is the announcement to take school control away from local authorities. I wonder whose pockets the money promised for edumacation will line.

Does it effect other sandwiches or just BLTs?

Oh...

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.

Can remember you mentioning it a little a while ago. Or I've been stalking you. One of the two.

Anyway, my point being, will you still have to pay those charges if it is your only property? Even if you let it out how would they know it's a BTL if your name is not on the title deeds of another property in the country?

Because the mortgage will be a BTL int-only one. Another option is to buy it as a main residence, rent it out and change it to BTL six months later, but I'd planned to actually buy my own place between now and then.

I actually think it's a good policy to try and cool the market and keep rents under some sort of control, but it's really not good for me personally. Ho hum.
