Trying to do things surreptitiously in possibly the most monitored place, in the most monitored city is probably not a good idea.

Optimistic as ever

It is nasty and I wouldn't hand something like that out myself, however I don't wholeheartedly disagree with the sentiment. There are some lazy slobs sitting on their arse all day binge eating, with no self respect or motivation who become obese and then a strain on the NHS and a concern for their loved ones when they inevitable pick up an illness related to their lifestyle.

My sister in law for example has ballooned and now she has a child needs to be more health conscience as she more responsibility. She seems oblivious to this and in 10 years time it will be too late. It's not my business to say anything and it's a difficult conversation for anyone to have with her. I think if she got handed a 'fat' card it would actually be a blessing and might kick her into gear.

On the topic of fat people, how is it fair if I go on a flight, I weigh 80kgs and my luggage weighs 1kg over the allowed luggage that I have to pay more than the 150kg man with 1kg less baggage then me, who is sitting next to me and encroaching into my space? (Theoretical of course!)

I appreciate that there are cases when it's a medical condition, but I believe 95% of the time it's down to lifestyle choice. That fat card might inspire her and the people who read the article to live a healthier and happier life.

Good post. Agree with all of that. No doubt someone will quote you as if you're saying "all fat people are lazy slobs" which you clearly aren't.

Apart from a paper bag, you can't do much about being ginger or ugly, and those 2 afflictions don't cost the NHS untold amounts of money.

I had my gingerectomy performed via Bupa and I must say they did a bang up job. I have new found confidence and I can play the piano still.

Just try not to stare at your ugly reflection on the piano lid

I know. I wish I hadn't spent all that money on an antique grand piano instead of having facial reconstruction surgery.

Although very callous there has been an explosion of type 2 diabetes in this country mainly because of obesity which now accounts for 10% of the entire NHS budget. When you consider we can't afford medicine for most cancer patients you have to ask what is fair?

I think I would rather adopt a European style system where you need some form of medical insurance and higher risk groups such as fat b******s would pay more

..it is becoming worse every day and something needs to be done, but not this way, in studies it has been found that some humans can never have the sensation of being full and are always hungry, I understand the more you eat the more you can digest, but these people need to realise that they are destroying their own lives, often they know this and that in itself leads to comfort food, the majority of humans crave sugar, it is an addiction.
We need to look at Supermarkets and the sales of the stuff with sugar and salt etc piled in, because suppliers know the addiction and they love fat people, this is where the card holders need to be.
