Obviously I wouldn't want us spending money on just anyone. But I'd like to think we could bolster our ranks in Jan especially some of the squad players leave.

qoute from Pardew below.

Pardew - "I don't think we need to change too much about the side, so I don't believe we need to get that involved in the transfer window."

No we can't. We need a striker who can score.

Get that involved means we don't need to go crazy, which I agree. 2 players max i reckon, a striker and potentially a defender. Then I'd imagine a few players will be on their way out.

Campbell, Lee, Mariappa, Ledley (especially as he's not playing and wants to be part of Wales Euro 2016 squad) may be the ones to go.

A goalscorer will definitely be purchased and any outgoing squad members should be replaced with upgrades. That's progress

I would expect Pardew to say that, he is not going to give anything away about targets.
Our standing as a club has changed dramatically in the past few years. Players will want to come here.

With Patrick Bamford probably going to leave, I think a striker would be coming in, either on loan or buying.

The summer signing of Cabaye will have a knock on effect in the sense that other quality players will be attracted to the club.

when pardew said 'we don't have to get that involved' ....that tells me no superstar striker worth 5 mill plus will be chased.

obviously I know fa. but I hope it's simply a smokescreen.

maybe even a young foreign CB from France or Italy too eh.

Given the performances of Wickham in the last 3 games isn't the role of the lone striker more about other things than scoring goals?

Of course a few goals would always be nice but it would be a bit harsh to replace him.

I think in the next 5 games we could be looking at a different situation, Wickham getting 2 goals in the next 5 would change the complexion a little.

He's been out injured a while and is just getting in his stride. And this is from someone who didn't want to sign him as I thought he was substandard.

Wickham and WH's performances recently have changed my mind.

Absolutely spot on. It's cringeworthy when people come on here and say strikers are about scoring goals. Granted, it used to be the case. But in a system we play, first and foremost we need a striker who has a physical presence up front, can hold the ball up and bring our attackersfrom midfield into more offensive areas.

Ideally you'd end up with a striker who can do both the above and hot 25+ a season. An Alan Shearer type would be immense in such a role. If wickham ends up doing both then wow, what a player. Believe me, if we have to find such a striker who can do both the you're looking at 35m and above.

It's too easy to point the finger about lack of goals. The striker role at palace is about far more than hitting the back of the net.
