I think this would be a great signing. It would provide competition for Puncheon(who hasn't been at his best this season) and with him and Cabaye supplying balls for a striker such as Austin or Remy we could be looking at something good.Lets not forget Shelvey also broke into the England squad recently.

I think it would actually allow Cabaye to play the #10 role and Shelvey can play where Cabaye is. Pardew would have a lot of flexibility of course, being able to move either man to either spot. It would be nice to have options depending on the opposition and other circumstances.

I think Deeper next to MacArthur is a better position for Cabaye, he looks like he has a little more time to pick a pass, can see more and dictate the tempo of the team. I'm not sold on Shelvey, hasn't set the world alight. Has a good shot from outside the box, something we haven't had enough of this season, but I think there are better options out there.

I know a lot of you want him but for me no, not Shelvey. He's a good enough player and will run all day but looks out of his depth against any real class. This team needs brains and skill not Shelvey. More importantly he's just not Palace. That shining bald head! Runs like a big tonka toy let lose. There. I've had my say. If we buy him I will, of course, support him all the way.

AJ and Lombardo? They didn't exactly do a bad job for us in the prem!

Lombardo was Italian bald, therefore stylishly bald. He was also a far greater player than Shelvey. AJ was bald because it helped him aerodynamically when he went down in the box. You can't compare Shelvey with either of those two great examples of true Palace baldness.

I like this guy, you are funny. (no sarcasm)

Playing today. Does that mean this transfer is unlikely?

if rumours of him going to newcastle are try then no, they have already been knocked out of the fa cup so will not be cup tied if he were to move there.

Is he really worth the reported 10M ? according to reports he had a run in with some Swansea supporters

Would love shelvey at palace but AP has said a midfielder isn't coming to Palace so that rules him out I don't believe AP is living I intend to believe what he says

Sad news.

I would keep Cabaye deeper alongside MacArthur and have Shelvey competing with Puncheon. Shelvey can find a pass, but he's no holding midfielder.

I don't think we should pay anything for Shelvey. Maybe 6m a couple of seasons ago but we have moved on since then. Who's place would he take?

I'm glad Pardew came out and said that this was a no no.

Phew..

Rumour continues...Pardew said something like, wanting to sign an attacking type player who would add to the goal tally, which presumably an attacking midfielder could do?
