I'm not so sure at least the third rail isn't nicked all the time nor is it affected by high winds like the OHLE. Constantly delayed when using the East Coast line. Chucked off the train at places like Peterbrough with no way home For example, once on a journey to Darlington the train left London 10:00am got as far as Alexander Palace and stopped. We eventually were chucked off the train at Finsbury Circus at 7:30 pm. My understanding is a lot of the problems stem from modern train design (brakes, size of carraige, electrical voltage, weight of wheels / bogies etc.). "Everything is air-droppable at least once." "When the going gets tough, the tough call for close air support."

Most of the problems on the railway is due to infrastructure. A lot of the signalling/track is over 30yrs old... NR replace junctions and signals protecting junctions/crossovers but the rest of it is falling apart. Also the whole system is operating at full capacity, doesn't take much for one thing to go wrong and the whole thing comes falling down.

Most of the problems on the railway is due to infrastructure. A lot of the signalling/track is over 30yrs old... NR replace junctions and signals protecting junctions/crossovers but the rest of it is falling apart.
Also the whole system is operating at full capacity, doesn't take much for one thing to go wrong and the whole thing comes falling down.
