Surprised it lasted as long as it did.

Does print media still have a future?

The short answer is no.

As people are becoming more digitally savvy, the role of print will die.

Also, the Independent was a dreary paper written by and for ghastly pedants.

The media all seem to be saying "No" so it looks like the decision has been made? The newspaper delivery boy will be going the way of the milkman.

I could never see him dropping an ipad through my letterbox every morning. He wouldn't be able to cope with the weight of them all!

Superb newspaper in its day and was very much needed to redress the journalistic balance being born in the days of Kelvin MacKenzie and overt jingoism and Thatcher/Scargill and Militant polarising the output.

Great times politically.

I am proud to say that I never ever bought a copy and apart from being drawn on here to read an article by way of a link on a post have never read it either.

My impression of it from reading those links is that it probably isn't independent and has a left leaning/liberal agenda.

At least The Sun and The Mirror etc have the balls to nail their colours to the Masthead !

This decision has a lot to do with advertising revenue - their daily distribution was about 24K I believe. Not much coverage for any firm wishing to advertise their goods?

It looks like the paperboys' days might be numbered anyway, seeing as how those interfering t***s in Brussels think their employment may breach european law. [Link]
