.......and that should be determined by the British, not a faceless E.U. parliament. That said even this government & especially the last shower were bent on letting any scumbag into the country many with no grasp of the English language or even the remotest tie to the UK. Certain races don't assimilate that's a fact. There was a case last year where a fella was being charged with rape he had been here 20 odd years yet needed a translator (even the judge remarked on this)

It's about UK making its own laws – not a committee of 27 other countries who act only in the benefit of the group!

How can you plan for housing, education, healthcare and infrastructure when you're unsure of what the population will be in 5 years time?

But, if the economy is worse off, surely this means less funding for health, education, pensions etc. How can we plan for the future of public services with considerably less money for them?
...and what we know now about the immigration figures, immigrants have a NET POSITIVE contribution of £2.5billion to the UK economy pa. i.e. they more than pay there way.
And the reality of the current situation: The UK currently has circa 5.3% unemployment i.e at or near full employment...we need immigration and not just from the eu...in the last figures 150,000 came from outside the eu, 42k from India alone. Our hospitals, schools, care homes etc desperately needs immigration if they are to continue in any viable form.
And only 7% of immigrants are on benefits whereas 15% of british are on benefits
We must stop blaming immigrants for everything

Do you mean to cope with all the extra people pouring into this country ?

We can all quote figures and perhaps bore all and sundry.I could assert that migration from EU is projected to rise to over 400,000 per annum by 2030 with 5 mill more EU immigrants by this year.Furthermore the NHS bill would have to increase by £9 BILL by 2030 to cope with the extra numbers etc etc etc.NHS would need an additional 14,000 doctors and 40,000 nurses to maintain current levels. And net migration to UK from EU is running at 184,000 a record high blah,blah,blah......

Anyhow getting into a figures "War" is perhaps very tedious to the majority on here so I shall get off my "Soapbox" now otherwise I will get embroiled in a lengthy debate which will only WILLO this thread.Think it best I stay off this topic as it already occupies a lot of my life outside of HOL and frankly my wife has had enough of me going on and on about it incessantly !!!!

That's it from me !

I'm not blaming immigrants for anything. I'm blaming the EU free movement rules. If I could move elsewhere withing Europe and get a job that pays 5 times more than I currently do for more menial work, then I'd be unapologetically getting a plane tomorrow.

I'm sure immigration from outside the EU has a positive impact as we get to choose who comes in, but the majority of EU immigrants will be on minimum wage jobs, and are likely to be claiming tax credits or whatever they're called today. Those that have a benefit would still be allowed to come if we had some kind of points system. It's undeniable that low end immigration over the past 15 years has kept wages down, whichever has just meant that big corporations make bigger profits.

But fear not, i have no intention of breaking the law....is that one of the 73 laws passed by the eu? No...still cant think of one.
And are you sure that your good missus voted out? In the privacy of the voting booth she may well surprise you....perhaps while you are tapping away on your keyboard she's in the other room with her online persona, aka the free thinking liberal Kermit, the open minded sporty or the vastly intelligent bigpalacefan....you never know hoof, but shes hardly likely to admit it to you is she.
On the subject of families, did we see that the green party have said that 100k families (where one partner is an eu or non uk citizen) could face marital breakdown due to visa and work permit requirements? Surely we cant want this?

Rattled... moi?

Don't want you getting locked up and having your backside abused, when the other inmates hear you live in Brighton!

Yes, my Mrs voted LEAVE... we both have a postal vote and I saw her ballot paper as she asked me to put it in the right envelope.

She hates the internet and mobile phones so I'm confident she's not any of the characters you suggest.

More scaremongering Johnny... well done mate!

2-0 to the leave campaign.... 2-0.....

When are they going to start doing that then? They clearly aren't at the moment, presuming your simplistic solution will work.

Your views are welcome on here Willo regardless of what your missus says. ...and i have just returned from church (where i read the lesson) so will similarly get off my pulpit....but your stats say the nhs will need an extra £9bn by 2030 whats that 5-7%? And you attribute all of this rise to immigration? Do you not think that part of it could be attributable to an ageing population? Or maybe adavances in medical science or demographic trends that mean people(particularly men) are using the nhs more? Or the rising cost of treatment and drugs? But you infer that its all due to immigration.....when the ceo of the nhs says that brexit is a significant threat to the future of the nhs..which could lead to a 14billion decline in nhs spending.
I know you will say this is 'scaremongering' from the head of the nhs which seems the only explanation for most of the out campaign at the moment but tell me this.....if you had a serious medical condition and found out that over 90% of doctors advised on a certain course of treatment with the usual disclosure that there could be no 100% guarantees of success but that the alternative could well cause more significant damage even though they may be good homeopathic treatments, or leeches or just the experience of that bloke Colin down the pub who insists doctors are just guessing and trying to scare you, would you really just ignore the 90% of doctors?........really?

Looks like it has sadly.

Truth is, the vast majority of voters are either firmly entrenched into the remain or leave camps and really wont change their minds no matter what you tell them. That leaves a slim margin as king makers, the campaign has therefore descended into 'who can get their attention' the best.

A sad reality but necessary to win...

Out of curiosity Gusset, did you make up your mind over how you were going to vote?
