Your views are welcome on here Willo regardless of what your missus says. ...and i have just returned from church (where i read the lesson) so will similarly get off my pulpit....but your stats say the nhs will need an extra £9bn by 2030 whats that 5-7%? And you attribute all of this rise to immigration? Do you not think that part of it could be attributable to an ageing population? Or maybe adavances in medical science or demographic trends that mean people(particularly men) are using the nhs more? Or the rising cost of treatment and drugs? But you infer that its all due to immigration.....when the ceo of the nhs says that brexit is a significant threat to the future of the nhs..which could lead to a 14billion decline in nhs spending.
I know you will say this is 'scaremongering' from the head of the nhs which seems the only explanation for most of the out campaign at the moment but tell me this.....if you had a serious medical condition and found out that over 90% of doctors advised on a certain course of treatment with the usual disclosure that there could be no 100% guarantees of success but that the alternative could well cause more significant damage even though they may be good homeopathic treatments, or leeches or just the experience of that bloke Colin down the pub who insists doctors are just guessing and trying to scare you, would you really just ignore the 90% of doctors?........really?

I listen to the medical profession with regard to their sphere of expertise in the field of medicine. My father was a Doctor !

Looks like it has sadly.

Truth is, the vast majority of voters are either firmly entrenched into the remain or leave camps and really wont change their minds no matter what you tell them. That leaves a slim margin as king makers, the campaign has therefore descended into 'who can get their attention' the best.

A sad reality but necessary to win...

Out of curiosity Gusset, did you make up your mind over how you were going to vote?

Nope. On the one hand positives are that we'd be part of a huge trading block and the EU has curtailed a lot of what IDS and Co wanted to do regarding benefits. I'd hate to think what they'd do if unleashed from the EU.
On the other hand, I think the EU have royally stitched Greece, Spain and Portugal up in league with the IMF.

I'm not blaming immigrants for anything. I'm blaming the EU free movement rules. If I could move elsewhere withing Europe and get a job that pays 5 times more than I currently do for more menial work, then I'd be unapologetically getting a plane tomorrow.

I'm sure immigration from outside the EU has a positive impact as we get to choose who comes in, but the majority of EU immigrants will be on minimum wage jobs, and are likely to be claiming tax credits or whatever they're called today. Those that have a benefit would still be allowed to come if we had some kind of points system. It's undeniable that low end immigration over the past 15 years has kept wages down, whichever has just meant that big corporations make bigger profits.

I would agree with your last point rubin that corporations are making excessive profits, rewarding corporate execs at the expense of workers but this is what the living wage policy seeks to redress (i.e. a domestic uk policy)...but even this is slammed by the far right members of the leave campaign as they say it will act as a magnate. Personally i would go further and place further restrictions on exec pay that properly rewards workers contributions.
But we do NOT have an open door policy with no control over our borders. This is a lie. Everyone coming into the uk needs a passport (except from Ireland), we did not sign up, nor will we to the Shenghen agreement where open borders is stipulated. We have a veto (article 49) that allows us to stop other countries (e.g. Turkey) joining and even we can, and have the right to send citizens of the eu back if we have good reason (e.g criminality)...and the head of mi6 says that the risk of terrorism will increase in the event of brexit.
So what does that mean in the event of brexit. It means that any passport checks or holding centres like the calais jungle would suddenly become a folkestone jungle and that the eu would demand a level of labour migration in exchange for trade e.g Norway has to abide with free movement of labour through its borders and it has to pay nearly as much as the uk (based on gdp per head) to the eu....but they do not get a say and have no way of changing things from within

We cannot control EU citizens from coming here, living here, claiming benefits and using our public services.Free movement of Labour and all that.I'm not of course talking about criminals seeking to live here. And how the hell do we know that EU citizens with a passport are not criminals ? Is intelligence about crime committed in EU countries passed on to UK ?

Anyway, you will be delighted to know that I shall now get off my "Soapbox" a" or I will start on increased levels of births from EU mothers, increased registrations with GPs etc etc etc !!!!

Goodbye !

When are they going to start doing that then? They clearly aren't at the moment, presuming your simplistic solution will work.

Ask your government.

London only recently returned to 1950s population, seems like 60 odd years is more than long enough to plan these things.

Make places around the country not London have thing worth going to any overcrowding it solved very quickly.

Key questions people must ask are
1) Is what we are currently discussing the question at hand - are we better or worse off inside in the EU?

2) Does leaving the EU solve said problem?

I'm curious though, wouldn't a true left winger shun an unelected pro austerity body and fling the doors open to the rest of the world? Imagine a free trade deal with Africa, Asia.. South America (think of all the left wing paradise governments we could trade with)! Wouldn't it be just wonderful Gusset!? The chance to tell Goldman Sachs to f*** off start pumping investment into developing countries which aren't in Europe. Corbyn believes in all these things, which is why he is voting for the Brexit!

Wait... what?

Yes it is at the moment but this sharing of info will likely stop in the event of brexit which also affects information on terrorists apparently, and we have restrictions on benefits. Over 95% of nhs/care homes usage is by British citizens and we get to use french spanish etc healthcare should we need it if we live, work, holiday or retire abroad. You clearly didnt get my doctor/economist analogy then?

Wait... what?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't mep's vote on legislation. Things aren't just pushed through.

I'd imagine that our current government would push through more ideologically unsound austerity measures (cut services to promote growth - really?)than the EU.

Alas your 'left wing paradise ' cliché negates all you say as it seems lifted from whatever rag you read.

MEPS do vote on legislation, introduced by the commission, who votes for them Mr. Gusset?

Just to clarify then, you are against my visions of investment in Africa and on trade with practically every other continent in the world because I worded it in a really optimistic way as opposed to flooding the HOL with predictions of doom and gloom?

As the so called rag at hand. Its the peoples daily, you can find a link to their online news here, sadly you wont find much coverage about the EU referendum as today's feature is about how President Xi plans to "drive through the old age harmonious sustainable economic development". Just what we can do... once we leave the EU. Yaay!

*after edit

Responding to point about our own government. I agree, they are t***s, however we could always vote them out in 4 years time though right?

The EU commission consists of one person from each member state put forward by the government of that country. Our elected government chooses who will represent the U.K.

As for being against investment in Africa, of course there should be investment. What a facile argument to ally me with being against that.
It would be like me saying you agree with the poster I linked to earlier saying 'watch out ze Germans are coming'
