Root and branch investigation into paedophilia in the BBC and all they turn up is Tony Blackburn vaguely not co-operating. Not a blemish on any senior manager - a truly wonderfully executed cover up BBC - well done

Whitewashes - the lot of them. Seriously, what is the point of trying to establish exactly what went on years ago with dead celebrities/politicians behind closed doors with minors ? Save ourselves millions off the police budget by just accepting that it probably was disgusting and harrowing for the victims. In some cases the accusations may be wrong in others the accused probably was "at It". Trying to prove it now is virtually impossible and ludicrous to even try. Without all these resources directed towards these needless Inquiries, you never know, the Police might actually solve a current crime?

As you seem have a connection to him, please feel free to pass on my (admittedly cheap) joke for his comment. I've a feeling he might have a few more important things on his plate right now though.

Friend of mine, who I got on really well with and seemed to be a very good bloke, was convicted of sexual assault. That's the problem, the monsters look just like us. Except for Savile, he actually did look like the stereotype image of a child sex offender... And was still regarded very highly in society.

Except of course that the investigations have resulted in a high number of convictions, especially compared to the average usually seen in sexual offences, which has a very low conviction rate. It also opens the way for victims to have closure, and seek damages as well as vindication. These aren't minor offences. After murder, sexual offences probably rate as the second most serious of crimes against the person. If you look at my previous post, it lists a number of sex offenders that have been exposed, convicted and imprisoned as a result of their crimes - Proven beyond reasonable doubt, before a jury of their peers. There is no statute of limitations, as such the police are right to pursue these offences, especially given their failure to do so in the past, when allegations were brought to them.
