Simple answer is dont go in if you dont like it. personally I'd rather stick pins in my eyes than go out in croydon.

If it has violent/homophobic/racist/misogynistic lyrics, then of course it should be banned.

Jamaica is the most bigoted country I've ever been to. Jamaica and West Indian culture has some real issues.
3 visits to Jamaica, and 3 times I've been left shaking my head at some of the views the locals seem to think acceptable. The homophobia is rampant.

I have loved every trip I have made to Jamaica. If you don't like it, don't go. Simplies..

In regards to bashment, like all music, it's an acquired taste. Not my thing but to ban it is stupid.

Even places like Tiger, Tiger have major disorder issues of a weekend. The police regularly arrest it's patrons.

It's to much alcohol that causes disorder, not music..

What other music should we ban?

'Saturday nights all right for fighting'?
The entire punk genre?
'The fairytale of anew York' because it contains the word 'faggott'?

Who decides upon the censorship and what should be banned?

Do you honestly think that's the same thing?

I'm guessing you went as a tourist?
Homosexuality is illegal in Jamaica in 2016.

There is a massive problem with Bashment and dancehall music in Jamaica...any song that encourages killing gay people is pretty offensive to me, and I have no problem with it being banned.
Some people think it's fine.. and well I struggle with that if i'm honest.

Please could you explain what you mean and I will answer your question.

You haven't answered the questions posed because I suspect you have no answers.

The fact is that censorship is more damaging than allowing freedom of expression.

Would you want to live in a censored society?

I think a song that encourages the shooting and burning of gay people should be banned in 2016 England... If people want to justify it by comparing it to a Elton John song, I think they either don't understand what they're talking about... or maybe....

Your missing the point. Where does censorship end?

I don't think anyone on here is encouraging musicians to promote the killing of anyone through their lyrics. However, censorship is wrong. Where does it start and stop?

I am talking about censorship and the politics of censorship.

We should ban music that encourages murder of people due to their sexuality.
I don't think we should ban Elton John.
Hope this clears things up.

And I'm talking about hate speech regardless if it's dressed up as "music".

You're missing the point of this thread... the thread is discussing people singing about killing gay people.

There is no freedom of speech... because society is littered with bellends that think saying gays should be shot and burned is ok, and when the authorities say don't say s*** like that, they then scream censorship
