Yikes that's terrible! Though I hear that the council is starting to crack down on fly tipping as part of their 'don't mess with croydon' campaign - so fingers crossed they get somewhere with it.

The one thing it seems that South Norwood had got going for it is cheaper housing comparatively to the rest of the area (crystal palace, penge, etc..). Here hoping for the area to evolve with time to make it a nicer place to live!

Unfortunately Norwood is a bit of a sh*thole!!

At least Millwall won't be visiting us for a few seasons (unless we draw them in a Cup competition), so your front windows are safe for now.

Would'nt recommend it.
I lived in Whitworth rd for some time, late 80's through to early 90's.
South Norwood had a decent high st. plus shops off Portland rd.
Most have closed down & rest are take away outlets.
Many of the pubs have gone.
Place is a lot more run down now.

Avoid.

Thank you for your reply! Yes I wasn't sure whether parking would be an issue as the estate agent said parking is not usually allowed on holmesdale road on match days - sounds like that isn't the case!
We are also nervous about the redevelopment plans taking place soon - exciting for the club but not sure what sort of disruption it may bring to the area while the redevelopment is taking place.

Im afraid it is...i know someone that lived on the road and as a non football fan she hated having to get up early on sats when we were at home to move her car

No, Croydon isn't. Just North and West Croydon. The rest is fine. Draw a line across the middle of the town centre and never, ever, cross it other than on a very fast train.

Mind you with all the new high rise posh flats, it looks like goodness is creeping North.

If by crack down on fly tipping you mean, perhaps clearing it up within a few days after you've phoned to tell them, then yes they are.

If you're hoping they do it using their own initiative then you'll be disappointed often.

If you are opposite the stadium (from Park Road to Clifton Road) you cannot park on match days - Saturday between about 1.30 (if it's a 3.00 kick off) until about 6.00, not sure about evenings but the notices in the road should show times

If your car is still there about 1.20 the warden knocks on your door, if your not in or dint move it then it gets towed away!

In other parts of the road don't even think of trying to go out or come home in your car between 1.00 and 3.00 or later from about 4.50 until 5.30

I'm guessing that most matches he's going to be busy most of that time period. I'd imagine that if you're a Palace fan, then living opposite Selhurst Park isn't too bad, given during the worst inconvenience times you'll be presumably at the game. If your missus is a Palace Fan and goes to games, then most of the hassle of 'living opposite the stadium' is far less hassle than not living near the stadium.

I can't imagine that there is much desire to come out of the ground, and jump straight in your car and drive somewhere.

Also, its perfect for a pre-match drink, just get some mates around, have a few beers watching the sky, and then walk across the road - Plus getting back after a match is quite easy. Unless everyones going to the Albion, in which case its still less of a pain than having to get the train or bus.

Basically, if you're a Palace fan, its a total win scenario, as all the hassle and grief is mitigated by the convenience on match day.

Plus now the away fans are down the other end, the chances of people putting your windows in when Palace win, is slim to none. Although granted the risks of that are currently pretty f**king slim.

Yeah, but it was on fire on the Schem, the following day.
