The perfect reason for bringing back hanging.

Tesco, Hove, last Wednesday.

Once the temperature hits that magic 10c, these people think it's summer.

I can't agree with Collier Row Eagle's hanging proposal - that's over the top.

Public flogging however, I can support.

Have to do it on a cold day mind, otherwise it could get difficult logistically

Maybe it's just me but I love my flip flops, my feet just feel free. I haven't actually started wearing them out yet though.

Wear them indoors. That'll start wearing them out.

Women get a pass.

Men who wear flipflops or sandals are paedophiles waiting to be exposed as such.

Also, shorts, utterly unacceptable attire for men, unless you are going swimming in them. Even on the beach I would refuse to wear shorts unless planning to go into the sea.

In my book there are three types of footwear for gentlemen. These are shoes, trainers (non-gaudy) and boots.

Obvious exception, is that a man may wear his choice of attire within his own home, provided its not a hat (outdoors only), and provided he is not entertaining.

Any British man wearing a baseball cap is automatically disqualified from having an opinion on any subject. Anyone who wears a baseball cap in a restaurant, cinema or pub, should be castrated on the spot, with bricks, and left to die in an alleyway.

I did have a laugh at you pretending to be a refined gentleman but you tripped up badly by including trainers in your list of acceptable footwear

I find it an acceptable form of comfortable footwear. Although I only ever wear solid black trainers, rather than flashy or gaudy 'sports fashion wear'. Obviously. Provided one shows some decorum, the comfort of a training shoe is acceptable in certain environments - much like a boating shoe. Certainly one would not wear such a thing to high tea....

Plus one may justify a plimsoll, as it may be required for the disciplining of unruly women in public.

Hmmmm. I think we'll have to agree to disagree on that one as I wouldn't mind betting that even the executive boxes at Selhurst Park will stipulate "No trainers"
