As far as Stokes is concerned there isn't anything to say that he felt Samuels was OTT in his remarks. He may except that 'you don't give it if you can't take it'. Part of the art of sledging is to know who to sledge to and who not to. You just don't sledge anybody. Sometimes you just want to give the opposition batsman the silent treatment so not to 'wind them up'. This players learn with experience and advice.

He gave Samuels the verbals in last years tour of West Indies and it seemed to spur Samuels on to better things but it seems that Stokes didn't learn his lesson

Root has the right attitude and is more mature... he just smiles at the sledging, knocks another boundary and lets his batting, bowling and fielding do the talking.
