What is wrong with the world when two 14 year old girls commit such acts of babarity on an OAP.

My first question is what on earth were the local authority doing ?!

Local Authority failure to adequately provide services. Whilst obviously the two girls in question are clearly very damaged people, the case reminds me very much of the Rotherham abuse cases in which Local Authority Care basically leaves kids to effectively 'raise themselves' and ignores any responsibility for dealing with the problems kids in care might have or be exhibiting - You don't just do this as a starter, you build up to this kind of thing.

She was only 39 but seriously vulnerable. Thankfully both the bitches have got life sentences.

The judge should feel ashamed for trying to gag the press from reporting this case too.

They discussed this case on Radio 4 Today programme this morning and marked the similarity with poor little Jamie Bulger and the evil pair of 10 year olds, Venables and Thompson 20 years ago.

Time has flown.... and we still haven't learnt how to prevent feral kids from killing people or getting them under control away from irresponsible parents who need locking up themselves.

When you read the backgrounds of these kids (well one of them anyway) its hard not to feel sympathy for her, she literally did not stand a chance of growing up anywhere near normal. Its my honest view that the reprobate parents are as responsible as she is and deserve the same sentence if not worse. And yes I know plenty of people suffer abuse and don't grow up as damaged as she has.

Whilst I certainly agree this is usually the case, Both of the children's foster homes and all the social workers that were dealing with them insist there was very little if anything to suggest that they were capable of this - some anger management issues but little to think it could lead to this. The anger management thing is a red herring as the time they spent torturing her, including taking breaks and going out, shows that this wasn't in a fit of rage.

The programme mentioned that one of those children was told to "Fcuk off and kill yourself - by taking pills and cider" by her mother!

My parents were pretty awful to me back in the 50's/60's but that really is a nasty thing for a parent to say to a child!

Yeah, that's one of the bits that really stuck with me. Horrible. She tried to kill herself a few times during the trial, once in the court toilets by strangling herself with her own hair.

I'm lucky enough to come from a very stable and loving background and like to think I've provided the same to my son. Incredible how badly people can f**k up their kids and not have enough about them to even realise it. Or care.

five sisters with different dads, three in prison one for stabbing the mum. Learning difficulties etc. Prison might be the the best thing to happen to her

Lovely, the idea that everyone and anyone can have children is one of societies greatest failures.
