You're somewhat wrong, unless Stalin has suddenly been shifted to the right hand side of the ledger.

Pretty much agree with the second paragraph, there is a massive difference between Israel, its policy towards the Palestinians and being Jewish.

It's obvious why that one woman would take such a vile stance. More generally I'd say the left support Palestine as the weaker entity. However there's still plenty of sympathy directed towards oppressed groups turning to terror, but quite selectively. The official British line in 1948 was quite confused and I can't speculate on what liberal views may have dictated around that time, but I'd hope they were as partisan as they are at present. To be fair I can't say how much of this venom is directed at individuals in the UK, I'd hope none, but I've not seen this many boycotts since the Apartheid era and I while on the wrong side of the river today I walked past a Jewish community centre which had 3 security guards. Maybe it's just a lefty trend like supporting St Pauli or Dulwich Hamlet. I mean how would one actually 'Free Palestine?'. I suppose the litmus test would be whether the left would support a movement which resulted in Israeli (read Jewish, because this could affect all citizens not just those acting or fighting on behalf of the government) bloodshed.

Back to the story though, Luton is clearly fcuked up and this only gets addressed when some IDL morons go up there.

How else are oppressed groups supposed to protect themselves and escape from oppression. The term 'terrorist' is often used politically against groups that opposed a countries interests. Its easy to forget that often terrorist groups evolve out of a political isolation and systematic oppression - in which violence is commonly used against the oppressed peoples or groups. It should not then be surprising that such people resort to political violence to establish themselves.

In the same way that Germans were not the same as Nazis?
In ideological terms you are right of course but in practice we still bombed German cities because they were under the control of Nazis. Israel was created solely for Jews in line with Jewish tradition and is run by Jews.
I'm sure the Palestinians or Arabs in general don't really care too much about ideological definitions.

Do you know any Jews who condemn Israeli policy? There are dissenters but the bulk of Jewish opinion which carries much weight in the US media supports Israel.
Personally I have no particular love or dislike for either party but the irony of the Jewish occupation of the West Bank and Gaza, that they claim in the name of the semi mythical, Biblical land of Israel, is unavoidable.

Thank you for that.It is certainly very insightful indeed in terms of "where you are coming from".

Ignorance speaks volumes...So,Jews are more or less a monolithic block?Hoary old chestnut...there may be one or two exceptions but basically they're all alike...Jesus wept!

Bit like holding everyone on here collectively responsible for, say,Bloody Sunday or the entire populations of the USA and UK collectively for the invasion of Iraq.......or anyone who happens to be a muslim for ISIS...

Reality...sizeable number of Israelis opposed to Israel government actions...

Large numbers of Jews around the world opposed to Israeli government actions...

Indeed. In fact there are even anti Zionist Jews. Anti Zionism is not Anti Semitism. Anti Semites will almost certainly be anti Zionist, but the opposite doesn't hold true.

If you take Zionism to be the pursuit of establishing a Jewish state in the Holy land/Palestine/whatever definition you choose and regardless of who currently lives in those lands (and given that this extends to parts of other countries e.g. Jordan), then Anti Zionism is easy to understand. Anti Zionists are not even necessarily opposed to the principle of a Jewish state.

What this woman posted is clearly Anti Semitic, no grey areas as far as I can see. It shouldn't be mixed up with Anti Zionism, whatever your views are on that.

The thread title is just one sweeping generalisation anyway.

A very predictable response.

I'm not coming from anywhere other than drawing a comparison between the Nazi treatment of Jews in the name of Germany and the Jewish treatment of Palestinians in the name of Israel.

Do you have figures on how many non Israeli Jews oppose the occupation of Gaza and the West Bank?

You sound like you have some expertise on the subject.

About 22% of Israeli Jews said they strongly supported the establishment of a Palestinian state in a January 2016 opinion poll.

If we took that across to the UK,it would mean a point of view (albeit minority) subscribed to by more than 10 million people, hardly the odd one or two...For example, to give a sense of proportion to our right wing bretheren, UKIP currently poll at about 16%.

A US poll in November 2014 recorded that 72% of US Jews supported the establishment of a Palestinian state including E. Jerusalem as its capital.80% supported a complete ban on settlement building in the occupied territories.

I never said that "just the odd one or two" Jews opposed Israeli policy. It just suited your argument to suggest that.
In the end, Israel is all about Jewish belief and exists for that reason only. Does that mean all Jews think the same? Of course not. But is it not a sad irony that the oppression of Jews has lead directly to the oppression of Palestinians by the offspring of those same Jews?
No doubt you would rather deal in semantics that acknowledge that.
