Life in general.

How many times do you see a group of people in the same room, or at the same table, and they're all staring at their phones?

Is it a right behind the goal thing or an under 20's thing or a big club thing? I ask as I don't think I have ever seen anyone around me (home or away) take a video on their phone, only the occasional photo.

I have had to get all grumpy old man at a concert and ask people to put their phones down.

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.

Behind the goal and penalties seems to be the worse combination of action.

Young and a tourist seems to the worst combination of culprit.

Yes, to be fair age isn't the biggest factor here.

As a Palace fan with no "second" club, when I visited Old Trafford for Man Utd vs. Newcastle some years back, it was for the experience of being in a big stadium, for a game for the Premier League title (something i'll never experience at Palace) and pretty much to just say 'I was there'.

So when there was a penalty, I took a video to say look grandchildren, I was at Old Trafford on this date and this was my view of the penalty. I don't actually care if it went in.

Fast forward to the best penalty of my life - Wembley Stadium, Kevin Phillips - and I was head in hands, peering through my finger tips, holding the back of my chair, nearly being sick.

Not once did I think "oh it's appropriate to film this to say I was here".

All those people behind that goal were probably tourists that didn't care. Sad for City fans but they sold their soul for the league.

On the plus side we would never of had ffs Murray if it wasn't for an idiot on his mobile. So not all bad.

That's a neat trick . . .

AS for phones at football - only get mine out at half time to rage/gloat about our performance to my Midlands-based brother.
