Maybe it's because my experiences are real and yours are imagined to fit your political views?

You are correct. I should have typed 'Guardless' and not 'driverless'.

Of course, makes more sense.

I have to say that the trains seem to be running better during the strike than they do normally. My train was even early this morning.

Only bit that isn't running is the Wembley service but it doesn't make much difference to my journey.

How so you know what the majority of the staff think? I know from seeing it on a daily basis. But you stick to your guns as it helps your anti union views.

I, as a driver, and many, many of my colleagues are extremely concerned about passenger safety as the infrastructure simply is not good enough, yet the company expect us to cut corners and take risks to keep things moving.

This may be about jobs but is equally about the safety issues that will be left behind when the conductors are gone. We care about safety a lot more than the companies. That is a fact. I don't really care that you're not going to agree with me. But I know from seeing it on a daily basis. Cctv monitors that drivers use that are too unclear to be used safely, Cctv being affected by sunlight so you cant see a clear view. Driver only trains are simply not safe enough, i know of many examples of serious passenger incidents that have occurred on driver only trains but these tend not to be publicised.

I doubt I can change your views but felt the need to say this. I don't need to justify anything. I'm in a reasonably well paid job that won't be changing in my working life so maybe I should just shut up and take the "I'm all right jack" attitude?

Now that IS a safety issue for a train. No wonder you're striking.

Living down here does have some advantages. At least you can see them cry.

They are not striking, the guards are.

Anyone who supports every strike action is f***ing idiot.

Much in the same way anyone who opposes every strike action also is.

I disagree. If you read between the lines, this is about potential losses. Guards are going to be reassigned jobs. Reassigning jobs is a standard way of making the job the incumbent is doing s*** and then they leave and are not replaced.

This has nothing to do with safety. It is all a sop used by the Uinion to get you in their side.

Ahhh you have red between the lines and now know the real reason, you should have said... I can't argue with that level of knowledge. I mean I was only a HR manager for a TOC for 6 years, as soon as the strikes were announced I spoke to my ex colleagues, but I shouldn't have bothered... I should have just come on her for your expert view.

Drivers are also against this... When I was working for a TOC the management wanted drivers onside, and were hoping to offer drivers a pay rise to get them to agree with extension of DOO, but it being so clearly unsafe they rejected this out of hand

Or you can listen to Matt_himself who has "read between the lines" and knows the real reasons

What a strange comment. What are my political views? Do I have a spectacular imagination such that I confuse reality with dreams? If so, obviously I need to be told.

I have overshot three times (Horley, Gatwick and Redhill) and on each occasion been treated with great respect and helpfulness and have reciprocated the respect shown.

He is an expert on the town of Croydon, the views of the Daily Mail and the error-strewn put down so I take his views very seriously.
