The amount of money required to bring the benefits up to PPF levels would be circa £350 mn.

Then it's up to Green to decide whether that 'Sir' is worth that much. Pay up, he might keep the title. Don't, and he will undoubtedly be stripped of it.

Green's lawyers are throwing their weight around due to some comments made by one of the MP's comparing Green to Maxwell. Harsh, perhaps, but Green's actions were certainly to the severe detriment of the pension scheme.

Sorry, but I think this is a trope. And it contradicts something you said earlier.

People always say "regulation" will somehow solve problems of this kind. But you said it yourself earlier: it's people who do these things. 'Capitalism' is just an abstract concept. What is needed is a moral compass, not 'regulation'.

Personally I think it's because we've stopped believing in God. We believed in 'the market' for a while, but now we've stopped believing in that. 'Regulation' is a poor substitute.

Green is apparently very status conscious and would absolutely hate to join the select band of sexual predators like Stuart Hall and Rolf Harris or failed businessmen like Fred Goodwin and I imagine that Lady Green would be even more upset to have to revert to plain old Mrs Green

She could buy the title for about £25.

Optimistic as ever
