DanH, mostly.

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

Some episodes have withstood the test of time better than others. Not helped by the fact it went on for far too long. Some real gems though. Triggers broom, Cwyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyying etc

Trigger's Broom certainly is timeless: it dates from Plutarch and it's still funny today.

I've seen every episode countless times. I've worn out all of the big lines so now i find intense humor in small gems. Such as "Shadows? Well until they start singing summer holidays i'll expect the worst"

Correct... on occasions it made me laugh, but is not the best comedy show we've ever had and for me became annoying when the Grandad was replaced by the Uncle who was totally unfunny.

I did like the character Slater the dodgy copper though and the singer of Gween Gween Gwass with Waquel.

You are better off watching Steptoe - you can see then the same episodes before John Sullivan ripped them off - just funnier and much better crated.

Good shout Sash.

The episode where the old man taught Harold ballroom dancing was comedy gold!

No mate. They mentioned all 3 south London teams , "Rodney Charlton Trotter, after Charlton Heston ? No Charlton athletic"
Sensible really as if they were blatantly one south London team, would have lost loads of viewers.

For those that don't like Only fools and horses, you have no soul.

Grandad referring to Del's Dad being Millwall. [Link]

So is Reg Trotter Millwall? Mrs Trotter Charlton? Rodney Trotter Palace? Del - Mark Goldberg?
