Answer my question about Simon Wren Lewis' "form" if you will.

Thanks.

No idea about his form, apologies.

Not an acceptable response I'm afraid.

If you're going to big him up quoting his latest forecast advocating remaining in the EU on economic grounds then we deserve to know about his track record.

It's not good enough to use phrases like "noted".

What was he saying about the Euro v Pound and was he as wildly out in his predictions like all the other "noted" economists were?

Pre 1999 we were warned that the UK would be in "the slow lane" and the EU citizens wouldn't visit the UK (oh how we wished that was true) as it was too much effort to exchange currency and other untruths that proved groundless.... on the contrary, the UK has positively boomed compared to the Eurozone.

Another refusal by you to provide this information will just confirm that "noted" economists opinions are no more valid than long term weather reports..... even from "noted" long term weather reporters!

I read recently (Cannot remember the source) someone asserting that if one got 10 economists in a room debating an issue there would be 11 different opinions !

Your attempt to discredit many highly intelligent economists because some economists 25 years ago got a prediction wrong (not even necessarily wrong as there is no counterfactual) is ridiculous.

Economically, it is clear, incredibly clear, we will be worse off for leaving. If someone could explain how we would be made better off I would love to hear it.

Arguments about reduction in red tape or free to do other trade deals do not stand up. Our deal that would eventually come (after about 10 years as the Eu would string it out to make an example of the UK) would mean abiding by the red tape they have over goods and services. Furthermore, the red tape often includes things like safety of produce - a good thing for EU citizens.
We have the best possible kind of deal with our largest trading partners at the moment. The amount of trade we do with other nations is minuscule in comparison. Due to the makeup of our respective economies, there isn't actually a huge deal we can trade with growing but still third world countries. Our trade is largely done with similar countries - Germany France Holland Italy Ireland Belgium etc. We have a deal with all of them already

But vote against Brexit. Like CPFC, we should be in Europe year after year...

Don't think I shall make any further contributions to this debate as I can see it evolving into yet another tedious WILLO thread. I have already driven my wife livid with all my BREXIT "Speak" not only to her directly but to fellow Brexiteers when she has been in their company.Frankly she has had enough of my Anti-EU rantings and compares it to a gramphone record which has got stuck. So in the interests of HOL, I won't add any more to this thread.

They can't. All they can do is make blustering, optimistic noises with their fingers crossed behind their backs.

Not all but some just don't like being a part of Europe and don't care about the consequences of leaving which tells us their own individual feelings override anything else.

Even Boris was torn and the only reason he is going for it on 'Leave' is for his own political ambition as he knows that if he wins then the road to Downing Street will be clear for him soon enough.

A humorous quip but quite valid Willo.

It makes me laugh and cry at the same time.

You've just accurately summed up a noted economist at work right there Kermit.

Not some, but the majority of noted economists made similar projections in 1999 about the Euro v Pound as they are making now about leaving the EU.

They cannot be trusted to forecast economic cycles on a daily basis let alone for a decade.... as I said earlier, they are no better than long term weather reporters are!

Anyway, the debate for me isn't about economics, it's about trying to fit a quart into a pint pot - which is what will happen if we continue to allow unbridled immigration into the UK.

We cannot even trust the government to tell us how many are arriving because they are massaging the figures to make it appear less.

You all may like to live in crowded conditions, but I like a bit of space and green countryside.

Try this as a novel approach.... just stop posting!

There is no need for a dramatic exit with a prepared speech.

Our deal that would eventually come (after about 10 years as the Eu would string it out to make an example of the UK) would mean abiding by the red tape they have over goods and services.

I'll pick you up on how ridiculous your argument is with that one highlighted statement.

Are you aware that Germany and France export more to the UK than we export to them?

Do you really think the French farmers and German Car Manufacturers will stand by and see their trade with the UK stagnate for 10 years whilst the EU try to hard-nose the UK into submission?

If you do then you are a tad naive and shouldn't be participating in a big boys discussion.

Germany and France will be falling over themselves to trade with us and continue sending their cars, wine and cheese etc on the same level terms as we trade with them now. They will not be making any demands or imposing tarrifs - if they do then we will impose similar or harsher tarrifs on their exports to us.

If we can't find a better negotiator than Cameron to hammer home this trading advantage that we have then I'm a Dutchman.

All you are doing is scaremongering my man.... and we're not buying it.
