Indeed he did. I was actually involved with a rather heated debate with a friend of my mother's cousin on the topic of Paul 'Simpson' last week after supper. He simply refused to accept that Simpson replaced Billy Davies as manager of Preston North End, where he led the Lancashire side to the top of the Championship by December, (I believe this was their highest league placing for 55 years).

Fortunately I eventually convinced him that my sources were correct and an argument was avoided!
