Is there no aspect of our lives that they can't interfere in? If I took my boy for a week on holiday in term time I would tell them where to stick their fine. Just who the hell do these people think they are? As long as it's not a regular thing.

It's the old saying, 'Give someone just a little bit of power and they WILL ALWAYS abuse it'

I assume that if you feel it's acceptable for parents to take their kids out of school it's also acceptable for teachers to take a week or two out during term time so that they can cash in on cheap holidays too

Yes I do. I have absolutely no problem with it. I'm sure they don't need to though considering the amount of holiday they get, but no I have no problem with it at all. Fairness for all.

A class needs 1 teacher to operate, it doesn't need 30+ pupils.

Do you not think the amount of additional holiday they get, over and above any other job, more than compensates them for being restricted? They only work 195 days per year. That's 30-40 days more annual leave than your average joe.

Tell them to fcuk off in no uncertain terms (no pun intended there BTW).
Stick to your guns and don't back down. Good luck and enjoy your holiday!

I understand your point but personally i think they should be allowed to take 5days whenever they like, just as the majority of us can.
The fact that they have more days off than the 'average Joe' is irrelevant, imo, as it's a very non-average career.
If we can make life a tad more comfortable for those who choose to educate our children then i'm all for it.
Kids at work, kids on holiday, kids at work, kids on holiday, kids at..........

Time to move forward together.

I do agree that there should be some flexibility but they can't simply come in during the school holidays to pay it back.

If they could partner up with neighbouring schools then they could perhaps cover someone else to repay the time off?

The bloke who beat the Isle of Wight council at the magistrates court over taking his daughter out of school for a holiday, has now beaten them again in the high court.

Now they should all stop penalising sensible parents and wasting council funds trying to prosecute them.

It all depends if you want your children to miss out upon a valuable education . If it is in last week of term when it's wind-down week and films aplenty for the kids whilst teachers take down displays then that would seem fair.

Taking my boy out of school for a week soon. Already refused permission but I don't give a toss. Will pay fine this year and will do so again next year.

Of course teachers get the holidays which are the envy of many, however what isn't realised is the amount of work they put in outside of school hours regards lesson preparation, marking, report writing and 'Parents evenings' etc etc.

And of course teachers can only go on holiday when the prices are at a premium. No cheap deals during school holidays !

A family holiday is far more valuable than a week at school in my opinion. Especially when it's the first or last week of the term.
