Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

I recommend Raised by Wolves as one of the best recent comedies. For stand-up, Tim Vine takes some beating.

And that Southend Goalkeeper can be very funny.

I concur. Remarkable, considering who his brother is. Talk about chalk and cheese......

I saw Tim Vine live and for 10 minutes I was wetting myself laughing and then I reached a pun threshold and grew tired of yet another pun. He's great doing short sets but a whole show is too much.

I still nick his material though. One of my favourites:
Doctor I can't pronounce my Ts Hs or Fs.
He said We'll you can't say fairer than that.

You fed me, you bred me, I'll remember your name.

I was up a mountain and this bloke started attacking me. I said 'What's your problem?' he said 'I don't like your altitude'

Russell Howthefvckdidhegettobeacomedian. Ah, yes. A mystery to be sure.

Ah, comedy, right up there with music for "my taste is better than your taste-itis"

Macintyre (or however it's spelled) can still occasionally make me laugh out loud. Howard I find oddly charming and very slightly amusing (but inoffensive).

Russell Brand has nothing to offer me, neither Miranda (Hart?), or the nasty ginger Scottish fella with the specs (used to be on mock the week) whose name eludes me - shock value for a few weeks, now just mean. Tim Vine's a one trick pony, but inoffensive, if not particularly funny for me.

Eddie Izzard, Jo Brand, and Kevin Day get some slack, by virtue of being Palace fans, but I wouldn't pay money to see any of them (though would gladly have a beer with all of them).

Still, each to their own!

As an aside - I've got a mate who in turn has a mate on the comedy circuit (fringes - pubs and clubs, nobody anyone's ever heard of), who is somewhat camp. Since Macintyre burst onto the scene everybody now thinks he's doing a Macintyre tribute act, when he is in fact, doing the same act he's done for 10 years. Must be gutted!

Can you think of a better description of Eddie Izzard?

I like Stuart Lee. Tim Minchin also. I love horseradish and (this is the wacky bit) I can't think of ANY condiment that I don't like. Even that Japanese green sh1t that tastes almost exactly like horseradish. But I guess that stands to reason (see above re horseradish and my liking for it). I don't much like apricots. Makes ya think eh.
