Surprised there isn't a thread already. In fact i'm surprised they haven't located the crash site already.

Looking more likely to be foul play than mechanical, I wouldn't want to be booked there for my holidays what with it being the second one to/from that country in 6 months.

What's scary is this is from France so if it is indeed foul play they will have got through French security.

The first one was from Egypt and their notoriously s*** security has been pointed out at airports for years.

France on the other hand have a huge security budget and are meant to be on high security on the back of 2 major attacks and a couple more on the other side of their borders! That's what's shocking and if it is foul play they need to take a long look at their security services.

Security can only ever really achieve so much and close down some risks by making it harder, not impossible. Switch methodology, makes it harder to focus security efforts. You can't maintain total security at all times.

Or the device (if there was one) had been on the plane for other previous flights too? It's last few locations before Paris were Eritrea, Tunisia and Egypt.

They're going to have to start screening baggage handlers and cleaners more than the passengers soon.

Living down here does have some advantages. At least you can see them cry.

Apparently 86,000 people have airside clearance at CDG. That's mad.

One would have thought, like at UK airports, staff are screened and undergo the same stringent security checks as passengers when they proceed from 'Landside' to 'Airside' areas.

You're joking aren't you? Once cleared for airside they come and go as they like.

No I'm NOT joking.

At UK airports all staff have to go through the screening process and undergo the stringent security checks which passengers have to go through, before they cn proceed into 'Airside' areas. They simply cannot just pass from 'Landside' to 'Airside'.
