In terms of IT, never let a lack of real technical skill get in the way. There are a lot of roles in IT that actually work better if you aren't on the technical side, and they generally pay better anyhow.

IT really lacks for skilled and proficient managers, given its tendency to force techy wizard nerds into management roles, for which they are socially ill equipped.

Trust me, in 16 years, I've met one configuration manager who was a failed programmer and one who had a decent IT degree (the others have all been temps, business grads, drop outs, project management types and flunkies).

I know that, I'm bored of managing though, I have an MBA but rarely use the skillsets I have...im also conversant in ORACLE and going through my Microsoft accreditation in SQL...and then I'll probably go and pick up short term contracts on £600 a day whilst I also continue my hobby of Property Development.

I'm not unhappy with my career choices, but I could've saved so much more money since I started work and if I had, it wouldn't have taken me to the age of 35 to buy my first house. Even another year living with my folks and I'd be in a significantly better position financially.

It was certainly wasted on me

I'd probably also have got into property development than I did as well tbh.

How could I potentially get into software development? Im not very tech-savy but doing a business management degree as JamieMartin said earlier may be to my benefit?

No idea...It's not an area i'm involved with. Your OP suggested what we'd change should we be 18 again...this is what I'd choose to do knowing how massive an industry it has become.

Software development isn't just programming though there are different facets from Graphic design to ALPHA/BETA testing the product to find bugs/glitches etc.

There's also the choice to be made about which platform you'd like to specialise in initially as all have different pro's cons to them.

Python seems to be the current 'in vogue' programming language and is used for Mobile App development mainly.

Then there's the ORACLE / SQL route which deals with Database management which would open many more doors as these skillsets could be used not only for game design (Football Manager is largely just a Database afterall) but also generic office / industrial solutions...even cloud computing.

I'd look at a vocational course from the OU or something to get an overview for a subject or even dare I say it a Lynda.com course which would be cheaper, until you find something you may be interested in.
