Not sure how to decide between 68/69 and 78/79 (I am an oldie). In 68/69 we won 10 and drew 6 of our last 16 games, unbeaten. Everyone who was there will never forget the players standing on the front row of the old stand chucking their kit to the fans. John Jackson, what a hero. The first time in the top division has to be the best.

For the game against Burnley in 79 I got my ticket in advance. As a teacher in Kidderminster I could not get away until 4.10. I raced home, got wife and 2 young kids in the car and raced to London (no M40 in those days). Got to Mother in Laws in Peckham at 7.25. Dumped wife and kids, picked up brother in law (a Millwall fan!!) and raced to park in Adelaide Road.

Ran to the ground with everyone coming the other way telling me it was full, and not owning up to having a ticket in my pocket.

Got in having missed 25 mins. What a time when Ian Walsh scored, and then I think David Swindlehurst.

1990 cup final? 1990 semi final? 1976 away at Leeds? There are many downs supporting Palace but when you get ups you appreciate them even more.

Saturday 12th May 1990: On a sunny day in North West London, the scene is set for the FA Cup Final Between Crystal Palace and Scumchester Utd at Wembley Stadium. Coppell brings on Ian Wright, he scores two goals, and the game changes..."

I too have been watching Palace since 1957 and I still reckon that last season was the best ever. Yes, I was there for the previous promotion runs, and third in the old First Division, and the Liverpool semi and the Wembley playoffs. But for sheer improbable drama against all odds last season takes the prize.

It was also all the more intense for coming so soon after the administration period, when Palace's very survival was at stake, and we were watching Palace fighting not just to win but to stay alive.

As well as Palace's astounding fighting qualities last season there was the sheer nerve-ending drama of the matches v Walsall, the waiting at Coventry, the second Sunderland match, and then Cardiff itself, where Palace were (though not for the first time) the less fancied team and triumphed against the whole world, or so it seeemed.

Even after Burnley, Liverpool, Sheff Utd, I have never known a hit like it. Plus that fabulous stadium, and I was there with my sons and three grandchildren.

Unbeatable!

Fully agree with midlandspalace. 68/69 was my first season as a Palace fan. It was an incredible experience for a 10 year old boy. And then the first match in the following August against Man Utd. What a buzz.
78/79, culminating with the Burnley victory was just as memorable.
Also, the FA Cup run in 75/76. The 1-0 win over Sunderland at Roker Park particularly stands out in my mind.
Moved Down Under in 1981, so the highs (and lows) since have been diluted by the tyranny of distance. Last year was gut-wrenchingly satisfying, though.

There is no alternative!

so many great seasons, but if I had to chose one, it would have to be 89-90. Not so much for the run to the Cup Final, but the way we battled throughout the second half of the season towards safety - hopefully something we can emulate this season!

The 1998/99 season or it might have been the year after, whilst the football was terrible we were losing players week in week out we seemed like we were on the brink, but there was the Supporters Trust, people donating a thousand pounds or what ever they could afford and a sense of togetherness i'll never forget. There were four things who were essential in the club we love staying where it is today the fans, Steve Coppell who can ever forget him throwing his suit jacket in the Holmesdale after we got a result against Blackburn i think to ensure we stayed up. And despite what we think of them now Clinton Morrison and Hayden Mullins they were our bartering tool they were the best assets we had. Whilst they were desperate times, they make me enjoy where we are now even more.

Ditto on both counts!

Such an amazing season; will never ever happen again to us in a million years.
