And I thought Christ was Jesus Christ and not god or are you saying they are the same person? How is it possible to have so many different takes of the same religion?

No they most certainly are not Christians if they don't believe that Jesus is God. Why is that pompous, calling yourself a Christian is like calling yourself a Palace fan if you don't like Palace. It is an oxymoron. You and I (along with lots of other people) will have to disagree on our definition of what a Christian is. Your definition is far too narrow-minded for me. It's pompous to proclaim your narrow-minded view of what a Christian is as the only solution. As for the Palace allusion, under your strict guidelines you couldn't be a Palace fan unless you went to every match, home and away! Quote

but you wrote down with no mistake that you don't believe in the divinity of Christ. I believe that is verging on blasphemy. I don't like to preach, but when I saw your nonsense post, I felt it was very important to let the readers of it know that you are not really a Christian until you believe in CHRISTIANITY! Yes, it is obvious. And I made it quite clear in my post (funnily enough, no-one else has rubbished it, yet) that in believe in what Jesus taught. Isn't Christianity the belief and following of what Jesus taught? Quote
I can't believe you are even arguing with me! There is a difference between religious scholar and Christian, and just because one is a member of clergy does not mean anything. The clergy is one of the most corrupt things in the world. I'll stick to where we know all about Christianity from, the Bible. I am sure there are some great Christians within the clergy, but there are definately some loonies in there too. At least you agree the clergy aren't without fault. Best get rid of those loonies though, like the Archbishop of Canterbury. Get yourself into that job, or else Christianity is definitely dommed...

I was brought up in a Christian family - and forced to go to a Baptist church every week. My father sometimes leads the service in his church, and my youngest sister spent a few years as a missionary (in France, Hollywood and London!). My wife is a catholic, and our children have been brought up as catholics - mainly because my wife's views on religion are stronger than mine. I believe that religion - be it christianity of any form, islam, judaism etc., basically sets out the morals that most of us live by. Years ago, it was also a form of control over the population - but that is a whole different topic! Unfortunately, it also causes conflict (and we all know that there have been wars between different christian sects - not just between different religions) as some people take "their version" to extremes. It is a personal choice - the majority of us tend to live day-to-day in accordance with the 10 commandments - mainly because most of them make sense in a moral civilised society. In the Koran they speak of "people of the book" - being Jews and Christians. When Mohammed received his messages, Jesus was seen as an earlier prophet - not from a different religion. My sister tells me that she prays for me everyday to convert - yet at the same time, she has also said that I am one of the most christian people that she knows. I'm happy with how I live my life, and how I treat others (and hence how they treat me too). Maybe, as I get older I may feel that I need to re-examine the topic, but at the moment I have no worries!
