By Train

Nearest Station
Sheffield - 3.5 miles from station.
Catch a cab from the cab rank or jump on a bus, as special buses run from Flat Street, next to the Pond Street Interchange opposite the station. Normal bus service nos. 43, 53, 74, 77, and 80 run along Penistone Road; nos. 57, 66, 67, 85 and 86 go via Middlewood. Mainline Buses usually park outside the visitors' end after the match to take fans back to the station.

By Tram: Get the Yellow line from Meadowhall to Middlewood via the city centre. It runs past the top of Hillsborough, ask for the Leppings Lane stop, right by the away end.

Or get a blue line tram from the back of the station and you can either change to a yellow one in the city centre, which goes to Leppings Lane or stay on the blue one to Hillsborough, which is 10 mins from the ground.

Where to Eat?

Lots of takeaways and vans outside the ground. There's a Chinese takeaway in Penistone Road. In Leppings Lane, there are two chippies, Mitchell's and Four Lane. Also, try the Breadwinner, an old-fashioned sandwich and pie shop.

In the town centre is a drive thru McDonald's and the usual fast food outlets. Or if you fancy grabbing a bite to eat while you shop, try the giant shopping centre Meadowhall.

Inside the ground is the the usual burgers and hot dogs and some nice pies.

Where to Drink?

These pubs are on the A61 into Sheffield from the M1: The Norfolk Arms (Grenoside); The Red Lion (Penistone Road, Grenoside); The White Horse (Halifax Road) and The Fox (Foxhill Road). Also The Horse and Jockey (Wadsley Lane) or Champs on Ecclesall Road near Bramall Lane.

Try the Wadsley Jack on Rural Lane, which is a 10 minute walk from the away end going away from the town centre and further up the road is the Rose and Crown.

Near the station are: The Penny Black with The Howard Pub and The Globe in Howard Street.

What's their ground like?

With a big capacity, Hillsborough is nearly always half empty and the atmosphere is a bit dead. The stands are massive, but old and have pillars in the way too.

Palace fans will be seated behind the goal in the upper tier of the West Stand with an allocation of 3,700. The view and seat leg room is good, but there are a couple of annoying pillars in the way.

What do they sing?

Hark now hear the Wednesday sing, United ran away (again), and we will fight forever more because of Boxing Day!

I never felt more like singing the blues, the Wednesday win, United lose, oh Wednesday, you've got me singing the blues.

There's only one Carlos Tevez!

Songs to sing back

Going down, going down, going down! and You're just a small team in Yorkshire!

Who do they hate?

Sheffield United
