Crystal Palace suffered more misery on the road, losing 2-1 to Ipswich Town.
Ipswich took the lead on 38 minutes when teenage winger Josh Carson scored with a right-foot shot which flew past Julian Speroni.
Darren Ambrose came the closest for the Eagles in the first half when Ipswich keeper Arran Lee-Barrett palmed away his 20-yard shot.
In the second half Carlos Edwards struck the post a few minutes in, and Lee-Barrett was Ipswich's hero once again saving from James Vaughan and Ambrose.
Vaughan came close again from a long range pass by Dean Moxey but Lee-Barrett was there once again to deny him.
Town then went further ahead when Carson grabbed another goal from 6 yards out following a corner.
Eagles captain Paddy McCarthy pulled one back for Palace on 73 minutes after a quick free kick from Kemy Agustien.
It wasn't enough though for Dougie Freedman's men as they ended up on the losing side on the road once again.
